Fashion Industry
"The woman is the most perfect doll that I have dressed with delight and admiration." -- Karl Lagerfeld. Ever since I was a young girl I enjoyed playing dress up with my two sisters. I enjoyed the fact that we were like big dolls and how a whole different world could be created with our imaginations when we wore a certain outfit. Little did I know that I would never grow out of playing dress up, and that I could enter a world that would be perfect for me. Although, being a fashion editor has always been my dream it comes with many roles, expectations, and requirements I must get used to. The first thing that a Fashion Editor should get used to is the many roles they have to encounter. Someone aspiring to be in the position of a fashion editor needs “an ability to work under pressure, as all magazine publishers give their writers firm deadlines” (Giacobello 66). Since, they have to work with firm deadlines they also have to assign what articles they want to give their staff or freelance writers. “Editors are responsible for making sure that each issue is attractive and readable. They maintain the stylist integrity of the publication” (Rocha 21). In order to check if the issue is attractive and readable the editor must proof, write or write an article for that issue. Editors do not only work close with their writes to see if the issue is attractive and readable, they might also work with the sales, art, and production department to make sure that everything in the issue is presented in a readable manner. In order to do all of this a Fashion Editor should attend at least four years of college with a major in English, journalism, and communications if you want to work in the highly competitive field. “Experience working in retail sales is also helpful, as well as classes in computer literacy, word processing, and desktop publishing” (Giacobello 67). Having computer skills is very important because Fashion Editors report on everything that has to do with

In “The Fashion Industry” by Hannah Berry, it shows that ads make us free to be and individual. She states that women are always told what products they should use to be beautiful and that two Clarks and Sorrel ads help encourage women to break free from this standard “beauty mold”.Berry uses a lot of description to help depict a mental image of the ads before showing a picture of the ad itself. The Clarks ad shows a band geek playing the trumpet and the Sorrel ad shows a woman wearing devil-red boots with a shotgun in her hand. The ad with the band geek shows that their products will serve to help support what an individual loves doing while keeping them original.…

According to Wikipedia, Fashion photography is a genre of photography devoted to displaying clothing and other fashion items. Fashion photography is most often conducted for advertisements or fashion magazines such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, or Elle. This was the main and original purpose for fashion photography back in the first decade of the 20th century. In the first decade of the 20th century. Advances in halftone printing allowed fashion photographs to be featured in magazines, this is a major factor as to why fashion photography began to become common. Did you know that the average height of a female model is around 5’10-5’11’ and weight is 120-124 pounds? When the actual healthy weight for women that is 5’10’-5’11 should weigh around 142-150 pounds, to me that is ridiculous and is a significant difference in weight (Evea). What the modeling industry has brought to society and to young teenage women is that apparently it is okay to be the size of a stick. I personally think that that it is completely unhealthy, and our society needs to do all that we can to try to change the view of teenage woman on their self-esteem, self-image, and confidence. Teenage women need to know that having curves and meat on their body is normal, because the models they see on television, the runway, and magazines are absolutely unhealthy in every possible way. What do you bet; those models are probably wishing they were eating that juicy double cheeseburger you had for dinner last night from McDonald’s.…

Fashion buyers use their sense of style, knowledge of fashion trends, and understanding of their target customers' desires to create an attractive selection of apparel for retail stores. Due to the length of time it takes for a designer or manufacturer to fill all orders, buyers often make their purchases up to 1 or 2 years in advance, so it is important for fashion buyers to be able to understand past, present, and future fashion trends. I am the perfect candidate for the Fashion Institute of technology because I am inquisitive; I am always craving more knowledge no matter what the topic - I am a leader, I enjoy coming up with fresh, new ideas and I am an intensely passionate person. Though, unlike many other FIT applicants, I haven’t always had a “passion for fashion”. Growing up, I wanted to be an Architectural engineer. It wasn’t until someone close to me gave me my first Michael Kors handbag my 8th grade year that I began to develop the passion I have now. Handling this bag was when realized my obsession with high-end fashion was only beginning. I was amazed at the production work put into making the merchandise. Of course the beauty of fashion is interesting, but what…

Since I could remember i've always had a passion for fashion, it might sound cliche but it is true. I vividly recall me playing dress up in my mom's clothes and putting on a fashion show for my stuffed animals. I loved shopping so much I would beg my mom to take me to the mall just so I could go into every store.Ever since then I knew I wanted to do something in fashion. At first, I wanted to be a designer and sew. So I started off taking sewing classes and making little outfits for my bears. Over time I realized that I did not enjoy sewing, though I was good at it, it just was not for me. What I did enjoy was putting outfits together. Every night I could not wait to pick out something to wear for school the next day. That is when it clicked, I wanted…
