I agree with this quote because I believe with every lie you make there is always a consequence after that lie. If you make a lot of lies you are going to keep on building up until you lie a lot and later people will find out and nobody will ever believe you. His first lie that could have been very serious to his parents would be that if they knew he was kicked out of his school. So in order to prevent his parents from knowing he took the letter and threw it away and went to go around the city until the vacation, so he can go to his house making it seem like he was in school and went for vacation so they don’t know he was kicked out Holden tries to be very unsocial with many people because many he doesn’t want to have close feelings for someone and they go away. He is like this because he had a good relationship with his brother Allie but he died at 11 and he never wanted to be really close to anyone and see them go away. Holden then always tries to not answer personal questions from people. Holden lies and then has many consequences that face him later on in his life and he has his own personal problems to with
