The feminist movement is a movement that started in 1848. The article "Law Day keynote speaker, Rights, and Responsibilities" states, "at the Seneca Falls Convention when hundreds of individuals decided to stand up and fight for what is right." The movement went through extremely difficult challenges when it first started, like cultural and social resistance, legal discrimination, limited political rights, economic inequality, lack of educational opportunities, internal division, opposition from other women, and intersectionality issues. A courageous group of men and women demanded equality for women. They were fighting for multiple things, but the main thing they were fighting for was for women to have the right to vote. This went on from the late eighteenth century to the early twentieth century. This was the first movement to help create new opportunities for women to gain freedom and independence. The article "Malala to become the youngest-ever UN Messenger of Peace" showed that her father was one of her biggest supporters and started a fund to help her become well known. They will donate the funds to the Education Champion Network. Malala Yousafza is one of the most present-day feminists. Malala not only fought for women to go to school but also made a good role model to people to fight for the good and never give up. The second wave of feminism took place in 1960 through 1970 and focused on issues of discrimination. One big problem that started feminism was when women had to take care of their house and were focused on taking over their husband's jobs while their husbands were fighting in World War 2. The types of jobs women had to do during World War 2 were truck drivers, cleaning homes, organizing fundraisers, growing crops, and taking care of children. Hundreds of thousands of women joined the armed forces.
