Fetal alcohol syndrome is a serious birth defect that causes many children to get when his or her mother drink while they are pregnant . The start of the whole process is the alcohol passes from the placenta to the fetus which the fetus cannot handle the alcohol the exact same way an adult does. Which causes the alcohol to thicken with the fetus and that prevents enough nutrition and oxygen from getting into the fetus. This can cause the kid to grow slower than other children , have facial abnormalities, have problems with their central nervous system and mental retardation.

Which means that 1.4 billion is spent on medical bills and the institutional on one individual. The more you drink while you are pregnant is the risk of your child coming out with this birth defect, there is no known amount of alcohol you should consume that will stop your child from getting FAS. I choose Fetal alcohol syndrome because I feel like this defect should be the cause of many women to stop drinking while their pregnant. There are many serious effects that your child can get from you drinking, that will make their life hard both physically and mentally. It can cause them to feel like they are different from the other kids around them because they might not look the same as them. Also i feel like mothers should feel some type of sympathy because they would be the reason why their child turn out with any of the symptoms for
