Field Trip
Report For The First Field Trip On 19th of March 2014, my tutor, classmate and I went to a Vietnamese Buddhism Temple. I was very exciting before the trip. Since I don’t have transport to go to the temple, I went to the classroom that we used to go during our class time and gathered with my tutor to ask her to fetch me to the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple. When I reached the classroom, our tutor, Dr Lili Zhang was talking to a male tutor about some trip to Japan and how the people there treat foreigner. So at around 12.55pm, we departed from our university to the temple. Since most of the students in our class have their own transport, there were only three students including me in the car. In the car, my tutor asked me about the lost planes of Malaysia and she briefly explained what we will go in the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple. It took 5 to 10 minutes to reach the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple. When we reached the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple, we saw many cars had parked at the car park of the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple and our first thought is most of the cars are the car of our classmates. This is because usually there is no much people will go to the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple. Once we had parked the car, we were gathered at the front door of the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple to wait all of our classmates who wanted to come. That day was like 8degree Celsius and I was so freezing that day. While we were waiting for our classmates, our tutor talked about the design of the temple. What exterior materials that they used for the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple and the color of the building. She also explained why they used those materials to build the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple. She said all of the material was brought from China, all the dragon on the rooftop, the two big dragons placed at the front door, all the statues, and some little stuff. Once all of our classmates were there, our tutor asked us to follow her to walk around the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple. We were led by our tutor and walked to the garden beside the temple. I do not remember the first thing that we saw when we started our walking but I do remember some of the stuff that we saw that day. We saw a lot of rocks on both sides of the road, and then our tutor told us that rocks is to make the place looks better and its one of the culture of Buddhism temple. However, all the rocks are not real rocks. It is only for beauty purpose. Then we saw a big statues, his name is ‘Guan Yin’. He is riding a big dragon and standing on a huge hill. In front of him, there is a lake. Usually there will be some fishes in the lake, but I don’t see any in their lake. There was a table as well, you can buy some candle to make wishes and pray for your wishes to come true. After the ‘Guan Yin’ statues, we walked through a pavilion with a Chinese chess table within it. Then we saw one ‘Ma Zhu’ statues under a big tree, I do not understand why the put the ‘Ma Zhu’ in the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple but it surely has its own meaning. After that, we walked to another big statue which is placed in another pavilion. It was covered by yellow color cloths and our tutor showed us how Chinese pray and the things that they use for praying. After that, we went into the temple. When we went into the temple, our tutor was looking for the monk that she had an appointment with but she can’t find him. Since we had no much time, our tutor changed her plan and started to explain some of the culture by herself. After a while, the monk came into the temple and he started to explain about the culture of Buddhism. He started his speech with the “Buddha’s Teaching’ and followed by the meditation of Buddhism. At the end of his speech, he asked us to try the meditation our self because he believes that meditation can help us to relax our self and let us have a better life. After that, we were dismissed and my two classmates and I followed my tutor’s car to go back to our university. In this field trip, I found that the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple is much different from the temple that I used to go. No matter from the interior or exterior. On the other hand, a lot of people always say that culture changed the society, but as we can see from the temple, I don’t really think that culture changes the society. Why say so? This is because all the interior and exterior design was not based on Buddhism’s culture. It’s an idea from the constructor who builds this temple. The exterior design is more to China palace and the interior design is more to Christianity’s feel. Maybe this is the design of Vietnamese Buddhism Temple but it is not the type of temple that I used to go. This is a new experience for me and this is the first time for me to go to a temple in The United States. This trip did gave me new knowledge and I hope we will have another chance to go for another field trip with my fellow tutor and all my fellow classmates.

Hackers typically follow a five-step approach to seek out and destroy targeted hosts. The first step in performing an attack is to plan the attack by identifying the target and learning as much as possible about it. Hackers usually perform an initial reconnaissance and probing scan to identify IP hosts, open ports, and services enabled on servers and workstations. In this lab, you planned an attack on 172.30.0.0/24 where the VM server farm resides, and used the Zenmap GUI to perform an “Intense Scan” on the targeted IP subnetwork.…

When visiting the Temple, it was clear that globalisation has had a big impact on Buddhism. Firstly the fact that it has organised school excursions was a big hint. The gift shop was also one. The temple also has accommodation for tourists - very modern and commonly seen hotel rooms, with televisions, radios and coffee jugs. In becoming commercially available to the public, the Nan Tien Temple shows that globalisation has an impact on everything, including religions we thought would not…

Genius forecasting - This method is based on a combination of intuition, insight, and luck. Psychics and crystal ball readers are the most extreme case of genius forecasting. Their forecasts are based exclusively on intuition. Science fiction writers have sometimes described new technologies with uncanny accuracy. There are many examples where men and women have been remarkable successful at predicting the future. There are also many examples of wrong forecasts. The weakness in genius forecasting is that its impossible to recognize a good forecast until the forecast has come to pass. Some psychic individuals are capable of producing consistently accurate forecasts. Mainstream science generally ignores this fact because the implications are simply to difficult to accept. Our current understanding of reality is not adequate to explain this phenomena.…

What really caught my eye were the three Buddha statues where we were going to have the service. The statues looked like they were made of gold but I just thinking it was the lighting. As I entered I felt a sense of calmness it was very different than a Christian church. In a Christian church I always felt tense or felt uneasy because of all the people jumping around singing songs like some type of indigenous tribes. On the other hand going to a catholic church always made me feel guilty or depressed. Being in this temple was different I actually felt welcomed while everyone was calm and collected and not bouncing off the walls. As we entered the area where they have the service we had to sit down on these cushions and after a little bit of talking they started the meditation. We repeated nam-myoho-renge-kyo over and over with a little bit of different words mixed in during the meditation. While doing it I was constantly feeling this sense of euphoria it felt like I was in a trace with everyone joining in. honestly, it felt weird because I never had a sensation like that before and just like that it was over. An hour passed and I didn’t even notice my legs were cramped but my body felt like it was floating, I actually thought I did some black magic or something but everyone was a cheerful mood. We didn’t stay long after the service was finished but one thing I…

If I had to pick one extracurricular activity to pursue in college, I would definitely choose club volleyball. Ever since I started playing volleyball in the 7th grade, I have been hooked. From that point on, the sport has become an invaluable part of me that has helped me grow into the person I am today. Since I joined volleyball two years after most of my peers, I was put on the “B-team.” I was determined to work as hard as I could to be placed on an advanced high school team. Thankfully, my hard work earned me a spot on a state-winning varsity roster as a freshman. We went on to win two state championships, and I personally received an All-West Region award. In this way, volleyball taught me that teamwork, dedication, and perseverance…

The students in the classroom were all listening to the teacher attentively. So the classroom is so quiet except the teacher’s voice. Suddenly, I felt my chair was shaking, I thought first the shaking was my classmate who sat behind me kicking my chair , so I turned around and asked him to stop kicking my chair and gave him a hard look angrily, but he looked at me with innocent eyes. I ignored him, turned back, and tried to listen to the lecture, and then my desk was still shaking. In the meantime, other classmates said loudly that their desks were shaking. My teacher asked us to calm down and he went out to see what was happening. At same time, the light dropped down from the ceiling and water machine fell down suddenly. We were very scared by what happened. So we ran out the classroom even though our teacher was not back yet. When we ran out from the classroom, I saw many students were running to safety exits, and our school president told us to run out the building as soon as possible. I did not know what happened, but I felt the building would fall down, maybe because the subway and the construction machine touched the foundation of the building. We ran down the stairs from twenty eight floors, during the time we ran off, I just miss my family very much and I realized how important my family to me. It is not easy for anyone to run down from 28th…
