Fight Club Research Paper
As a teenager, the best things that you can do is volunteer and be involved with your school. One may ask why? Well, you are the next generation, so why not make your community a better place? You can make your community better just by volunteering at your local church, food shelters, or just by visiting the elderly and putting a smile on their faces. No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. While in high school, I have participated in many clubs. Clubs have been a great impact in my life because I have been able to meet many new people along the way and develop many useful skills. For my community, I volunteer for the Look Good Feel Better organization through the American Cancer Society. Every second Monday of the month I meet with the organization. Several women will come and learn the importance of being sanitary when using makeup while going through cancer treatments. Also, the women learn different ways to wear hats, scarves, turbans, and wigs. I chose to help out with this organization because both my mother and brother have had cancer. I was able to see how well my family members supported them and loved them through the whole process. As a result, I wanted to be able to return the kindness my family was shown by helping others that are …show more content…
Since I am not the athletic type of person, it was hard at first thinking of ways that I could be involved. I then started looking into different clubs that interested me and went from there. I chose to join the 5 clubs that I am in because they all have their own ways of helping people. My favorite thing to do is brighten someones day or to just lend a hand to the needy. Through these activities my eyes have been opened to just how lucky I am. I am very grateful for the opportunities that I have had and will continue to pursue what I love to

Just last year, my company set up a Breast Cancer walk that both brought recognition of this hardship and helped one of our fellow cadet’s mothers to keep battling through knowing there were hundreds of people supporting her. I was able to assist in the preparation of this event and help keep things in order the day of for a successful night filled with knowledge and fun. This was and still is a serious cause; Those who helped make it possible and attended the event gained a greater respect for each other. Relationships are often a cyclone of emotions and thoughts that disastrously destroy lives or haphazardly shape paths that lead to new things. In Playing by Heart, the characters experience all these in a short time. While it was a fictional depiction of real situations, much can be gleaned from this film. Being that this movie corresponds with terms in our book the connections are endless.…

The countless clubs I joined included: FFA, Key Club, Honor Society, and SADD. I began to really enjoy going to these club activities and I started to become more and more involved. Instead of being the shy girl that I was in middle school, I started to transform and become more and more outgoing over time. Eventually, I had the courage to try and become an officer for my FFA chapter. My sophomore year I became our chapter's reporter, and as time went on I…

Sometimes it isn’t easy trying to find the time to serve your community in the way it counts, but the action does not have to be world changing, it is the fact that someone’s life was impacted because of your work. Since I have been volunteering at the Adam’s County Regional Medical Center, I have learned some very valuable lessons. The most important one is that the smallest action could make someone’s day. There was one day I was waiting with a woman in the hallway while her husband was getting an x-ray. She continued to tell me everything that was happening in her life both the ups and the downs.…

I completed my community service for the Autism Speaks U 5K run/3K walk, which was located at Kendrick Park in downtown Amherst. The mission of this organization is to spread awareness and fund research for autism, and there are 4 pillars which are research, awareness, advocate, and family services. This organization serves children with autism who live anywhere in the nation and are the younger demographic, but can be any race/ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, and group identity. I am different from the people served because I do not have autism, but I understand that it is a disorder that is not very well understood, so it is monumental to try to change that by finding causes and treatments for autism to help families of children suffering…

They have pillaged our churches, burned our brave preachers at stave, and ruthlessly slaughtered our followers. These barbarians have murdered hundreds of thousands of women and children. The Qing dynasty has done nothing to stop this. As a matter of fact, our sources state they have been supporting the Boxers.…

All throughout school I have participated in many clubs and organizations that have not only molded me as a person, but have helped me to develop responsibility, and leadership skills. Currently I am an active member of National Honor Society, and DECA. Both of these organizations, provided by my high school, encourage leadership, volunteer work, and have high expectations for behavior, and grades. Being in National Honor Society has shown me to continually do for others in need. There are always opportunities to get involved with the community, and even create drives for things like stuffed animals, and blankets for children who are sick in the hospital, and “Care Catties” for cancer patients, which include tissues, water bottles, hard candy, and lotion. DECA is another organization I am involved in at Frenship High School. DECA is a business organization for high school marketing students looking to learn, develop and compete in a competitive event. I have been a member since my sophomore…

This organization helps cancer patients find needed bone marrow donors. Finding donors are very difficult and finding matches are even more unlikely. This event made me realize how fortunate I was. I began volunteering more regularly with the same organization as well as places such as Food-share and a retirement home with residents who have memory loss. SAM and the retirement home mattered the most to me because I have close relatives who have schizophrenia and have died from cancer. Volunteering with these organizations made me realize how fortunate I was and inspired me to keep striving. This gave me a new perspective on life and I became more optimistic and outgoing. In addition to volunteering, I found a job, I began weightlifting, and I became much more social. In changing the way I think, I learned that life continues and that I still have time to improve myself.…

I was involved in many service learning experiences all throughout highschool. I was on National Honors Society and we would ring bells for Salvation Army and adopt children around Christmas time. We often volunteered at schools to help watch children, while parents were receiving help in finding careers or when they were being helped in some other manner. However, my favorite service learning that I was involved in was helping coach Special Olympics. This service learning is one of the reasons I am becoming a teacher, and one of the main reasons why my focus is Special Education. I coached my team in soccer, basketball, and track. I loved every minute of it. I spent more time with those kids than I have with any other service learning combined. I coached them starting my sophomore year all the way until I left for college. It was hard leaving my team and I am upset that I cannot go back and see them more often. Service learning has made a huge impact on my life and is something that everyone should become involved with. When you find that one cause that you are passionate about helping with it can transform your life like it did…
