The clarinet is a woodwind instrament consisting of a cylindrical wood, metal, or ebonite pipe with a bell-shaped opening at one end and a mouthpiece at the other end, to which a thin reed is attached. The clarinet has five different sections, the mouthpiece, the barrel, the upper section, the lower section, and the bell. The length of the entire instrument is 60 cm long. The mouthpiece section consists of a slotted cylinder, to which a reed is attached by a metal clamp called a ligature. The mouthpiece plugs into the next section which is a barrel. The barrel is simply a connecting cylinder to which the mouthpiece and the upper section plugs into. The upper section is a cylindrical pipe consisting of 4 holes and 9 keys placed in different locations along the pipe. On the back of the pipe there is a hole and a key that is used by the thumb. The lower section plugs into the upper section and is also connected via a special bridge key. This piece consists of 3 holes and 8 keys. On the inward facing side of the pipe, there is a protruding piece of metal called a thumb rest, which supports the entire clarinet. The bell plugs into the lower section. It consists of a cylinder that flares out into a bell shape and ends the clarinet.…

Dental hygienist use ultrasonic scalars, sonic scalars, X-ray machines, and hand held scalars. Ultrasonic tools work by sound wave vibrations. They can cycle up to 50,000 per second, scraping away plaque and tartar from teeth. They cannot be used on a patient that has a pacemaker because the electromagnetic fields from these scalars may cause the pacemaker to stop working. Before using an ultra-sonic scalar, it is important to ask each and every patient if they have heart conditions requiring them to have a pacemaker. There are sonic scalars that also remove tartar and plaque on teeth. These scalars use compressed air and water to go deep into the gums to remove pieces of food and plaque. Sonic scalars do not interfere with pacemakers and are safe to use on all patients. Dental hygienist also use x-ray machines. X-ray machines are used to see pictures of patients jaw and teeth. Dental hygienist take and develop these picture for the dentist to use and review before working on a patient. Another tool is the hand held tool. There are two types of hand held scalars, the Ivory-C-1, and the G-11. These remove tartar below and above the gum line. They reach into the pockets of the teeth to remove tartar safely. Using the right tools and using them properly are vital to the patient’s safety and health…
His original implant design involved flat abutments and screws which lay over the crest of the alveolar ridge. In 1970’s, doctors Roberts and Roberts began the development of the Ramus Blade endosseous implant. This implant was made of surgical grade stainless steel; according to them, it was to serve as a “synthetic third molar”.16 The 1970’s brought in the placement of vitreous carbon implants by…
I the practice I work for, there are two locations and each has one hygienist. I work at the Clearwater office and the other hygienist at the Tarpon office. To ensure inter-observer reliability in dental hygiene diagnosis, both office has the same types of instruments. I have to say, before I started working there, the office had old and not uniform instruments. It took me about five months to build up the armamentarium in my office. Now, each instrument kit has Metal UNC12 metal probes that I use for periodontal probing. Tarpon office started using the same type of instruments as well. Sometimes we have patients migrating between the two offices and it is important to ensure that probing is performed using the same technique (6 reading around…
The tissue expanders are inserted either empty or with a minute amount of saline in them. As time passes, sterile saline fluid is added to the expanders: This is accomplished by inserting a small needle into the filling port of the expander and adding sterile saline fluid. As the expanders are gradually filled, the tissues over the expanders begin stretching. The expander creates a breast-shaped pocket where Dr. Gershenbaum can place the patient’s…
Capillary refill is performed on the patient nail that is free of polish. The finger nails and toe nails could be used for this assessment. The nail is lightly compressed and released, it blanches and it is measured when the color comes back to normal. The measurement is done in seconds if it is less than 3 seconds the patient’s circulation is with in normal limits, if it exceeds three seconds than further assessment is necessary to diagnose the problem (Nursing). The patient could be suffering from dehydration, peripheral vascular disease, hypothermia and shock…
Periodically, the patient must attend their dentist's office to make this fit the devices depending on the result you are looking for. And on the other hand, we have the so-called removable appliances, which can be removed by the patient every time you eat or to carry out dental hygiene, although, it does not them is to solve complex problems of alignment, but rather to treat simple malocclusions. In any way let you obtain the same results as with the braces. They present a lower fixed equipment cost and of course turn out to be much more comfortable for the patient.” (Que es la…
