In the movie, Frank Lucas, played by Denzel Washington, shows that Frank has the power to control the groups of dealers because he had his whole family invovled in his drug rings and connection with people. Aside from selling drugs, he also supported his community by supply them with food. The enitre community in Harlem knew that Frank was a drug dealer and supported him and what he was doing. In the film American Gangster, Ridley Scott wanted to show the audience how life was hard and different in 1970's by showing a man's struggle to survive in lie by selling drugs. Frank Lucas was an example because he shows how drugs can really impact people's lives and that it can have a huge affect on the community, The film gives the audience a look at how the drugs dealing is big business industrial and how it can affect most people. Heroin was the drug that was being describe in the movie, showing how it can be a addictive and can be
dangerous. The title American Gangster may sound like any other movie that relates to different typw of gangs, but for this movie, it shows a whole community supporting one another for drug dealing business.
