We had an opportunity last Sunday to watch a substantial, relevant and very timely movie. Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Matti’s benevolence. Let me share with you some salient points of the film. But first, allow me to give you a background of the story. Apologies, I tried to abridge it as much as I can.
The story of Diyos Diyosan revolves on two people- a teacher and a student. It is about their ideals, beliefs and disbeliefs that determined their actions and decisions in life.
Estrell Subido or Ma’am Estrell, a public high school teacher, was an ex-convict. She was put behind bars because she’s an activist, a member of a coalition that opposes the government. 4. Matthew 7: 7 “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you." Philippians 1:21 “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” and Romans 8: 31 “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
These verses were uttered by Estrell’s husband on the night they had a fight just before he died. He was trying to convince Estrell that God is real and it is only in Him that we have hope – not in the government nor in any activist group. Needless to say, he is right in quoting all these verses.
5. 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
The characters in the movie have “dark past”. They are all sinners and so are we. However, along the way, some of them met Jesus and accepted Him as their personal Savior. This only shows that God is always faithful to us. He forgives all our sins, just as what Estrell’s husband has
