We promise each we were going to do better in our relationship with building each other up. That means attitudes, better jobs etc. I can say staying in that mindset was bit challenging in learning that soon there would be a new edition to the family. It really made being lazy and getting down much easier. When explain how to learn and the building process I say you have to dig deep in yourself to find out what helps you. From using your critical thinking skills, finding that inner good sound of judgement to work on different areas in life. As I started to understand what drives me and what steps were needed to be taken to go through to become success in my journey. It made me a better learning knowing what my LCL are. I pulled this out of our discussion from the first week: Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. One word to describe myself would be leadership. As the commander of my high school’s JROTC Drill Team, and the President of the National Technical Honor Society I have had many occasions where I had to step out of my comfort zone and take control of situations. Before joining JROTC I did not know what being a great leader was, but after becoming a squad leader I realized I needed to step out of my comfort zone and be the great leader that my squad deserves. Now three years later I am now the Drill Team commander, which I absolutely love being. I love being a guide for others, to be a supporter for them as they go through difficulty. Being a leader has taught me to be humble, to put others before myself. When being a leader you have to realize…

I will always keep the big picture of the task or goal in mind while working through the details and will try not to get hung up on the smaller items. I will share my visions with upper management as well as associates so that they understand some of the decisions that I make and also to let them see the larger picture and vision that I possess.…

The word literature has a great meaning in everyday life and comes in so many different ways. The body of written works of a language, period, or culture with the imaginative or creative writing especially of recognized artistic value (Houghton Mifflin Company, 2011) is the dictionary meaning. Lyrics, poems, short stories are all kinds of literature and many authors will write something they are passionate about or have an interest in. Many instances there are times a writer will write about a particular subject or within a certain genre and they write in a manner that sometimes had a hidden meaning. To know the hidden meaning the author will use symbolism, and as a writer and reader it helps to understand the elements that go into writing a poem, short story, and lyric. The writer goes through a process of creating a theme which helps to set the tone and will help them to develop the plot. Many times an author when writing a poem or lyric will not always have a character, but will have some sort of setting that resulted from the theme. All of the elements of literature need to have been put into place, and in many times the writer will also put a hidden meaning into the story, poem, or lyrics which the reader needs to read between the lines. Symbolism can be revealed in the theme, the tone or the plot of the story, poem and lyric. To find the underlying meaning or the symbolism the author is trying to portray the reader needs to be familiar with the elements of literature. The story “Used to Live Here Once” by Jean Rhys, the poem “The Road not Taken”, by Robert Frost, and the poem “My Papa’s Waltz”, by Theodore Roethke, follow the elements of literature, and have the symbolism that if the reader was not familiar with could miss the meaning of the story or poem.…

There will always be different kinds of intellects at classrooms. What are considered the worst students do not like to think through a problem or find out how a mechanism works, while some of the better students may understand the same concepts but do not think further about them once they are done learning what they had to learn. This is when the presence of a teacher asking them questions comes into play. A technique used to make students think further is called the cognitive disequilibrium.…

While I entered this course with a fair degree of background knowledge on human trafficking, I still learned a great deal more about the scholarly discourse, controversies, and policy implications through my professor, guest speakers, and fellow classmates. Although the SAFE Center was not the most communicative or responsive client, each team still managed to receive any desired information in order to efficiently address the client’s needs. Regrettably, my team experience presented the biggest challenges in the class for me, but I endeavor to learn from those challenges in an effort to prevent future teamwork issues.…

I approach each new subject and experience presented to me as a new adventure in learning, because I really love to learn, even if that sounds a little corny. I attribute this characteristic in me to my own natural curiosity, my upbringing in a family that sincerely values education, and to my elementary school education. I attended the Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School whose mission was to create a public school that would cultivate life-long self directed learners in a multi-aged, project-based setting. I was, therefore, encouraged at a very young age to follow my passions, ask a lot of questions and seek answers.…
