Finishing Law School
Finishing law school and passing the bar exam are not the only things that you will have to do in order to get a job as an attorney. Because there are so many new law school graduates, it is harder to get a job than it was in the past. That is why you should start preparing to get a job while you are still in law school.

How To Prepare To Get A Job

Go The Extra Mile

One of the keys to getting a job after law school is to separate yourself from the competition. Study hard and maintain a 3.0 GPA. Many employers will automatically weed out potential employees who do not have a 3.0 GPA. You should also participate in extracurricular activities. Not only does it look great on your resume, but it also allows you to network with other people.

The law and its ever-changing characteristics intrigued me at a very early age. Growing up, I wanted to be a lawyer. My goal of becoming a lawyer was a bit impractical due to my procrastination after high school graduation and because of my past financial situation. Not knowing what to do then, led me to join the Navy. The Navy afforded me the opportunity to go to school while working and it also allowed me to change jobs so that I can choose something closely related to my goal of becoming an attorney. That’s when I became a Paralegal, or “Legalman” as the Navy calls it.…

As I have reviewed a few cases within the Ivy Tech Library, I have found that there is nothing that can be done at the specific time to resist unlawful police entry in Indiana. The matter of the unlawful entry in each case I studied had to be resolved in court or the Court of Appeals. The first case I wish to bring to attention to is Sandridge verses State, Court of Appeals. Two officers, responding to a phone call, are refused entry by Steven Sandridge. They forced the door open and wrestled Steven to the couch. At the couch Steven was chemically sprayed and cuffed. He argued in his appeal that he was wrongly arrested by the officers who forced entry without a warrant. The Court of Appeals found that entry was lawful under the Fourth Amendment: Article 1 Section 11 of the Indiana Constitution. At the time the police officers had responded to an emergency 911 call. The officers had no idea if someone was in danger, injured, or could injure another.…

There are proven benefits of being a paralegal. First, the employment outlook is great because the demand for legal assistants is on the rise. Second, being a paralegal is an entry-level job that does not require the student to attend law school or pass a bar exam. Third, working within the legal industry is a prestigious and rewarding career choice. This is especially true because paralegal work is very intellectually challenging. To begin I’ll start by introducing myself, goals, aspirations, education, and what life is like for me on a day to day basis. My name is Loretta; this is my final semester at Mercy College. I will obtain my Bachelor of Science degree in Legal Studies with a specialization in Paralegal Studies. In addition, I have obtained my certification to practice as a Mediator in the state of New York. Presently, I am employed full time as a Paralegal; I also hold a certification as a Sports Nutritionist. My academic goal is to successfully complete Law School; my career goal is to become an Attorney. I prefer roles where I work independently; after being employed as a paralegal for the last 3 years I have come to realize my ability to work alone and complete multiple tasks are more efficient than working with a team. This is because when working on a case it is difficult to share the workload, not knowing where someone made an error, or if a motion was not filed correctly; it is too time consuming to fix the mistake of someone else. Therefore, if I made a mistake I’ll know exactly how to rectify the situation. Unfortunately, by working alone I haven’t had the privilege of making friends. This puts a damper on my social life and possibly my social skills. In addition, I noticed my stress level is pretty high due to taking 6 classes/ semester, work Full Time and cohabitate with my boyfriend. My diet could also be better; there are never…
