I live in Torreon, Coah. Mexico, we're located in the northern part of Mexico, just underneath Texas, my city is considered one of most dangerous cities in the world, due to constant battles of drug cartels. That is why I spend most of my time in school, playing tennis and at home.
I do not have the chance to go outside or take a walk with my dog, even less to go outdoors. Because of this I have learned to take care of myself, look around everywhere, I think I have grown up fast, but has help me to increase my knowledge in all subjects in my school, plus I have become a good tennis player, I hang around with friends who live close to my house, and we have become very close friends.
With all the shootings, there are no many restaurants open at night, or ice cream or coffee shops, but there are many activities in the school, and in the club where I played tennis, if there is a birthday party we all go but in houses. We have become very closed as a family, we traveled all together, and we spend weekends together with other families.
That is why I think I will adapt very good to St Paul’s community, because I see the School like a big family, and if I could get a scholarship to study with you, I will have the chance to walk in the streets, at the parks, and to enjoy the great outdoors that you have.
Because the bright side of living here in Torreon right now is that you have plenty hours to study and that’s why I am very confident that I will not have any problem academic wise. Here you have to see always the bright side of things, there are plenty killings outside but families in Mexico are together more than ever, and getting close to God.
