In the second stage of planned obsolescence the product would be slowing down and is becoming not as good as it used to be. In stage four of planned obsolescence the product appears to be back to normal after repairs, however, it is on the verge of discontinuity. This is due to those who are impacted by tension tend to hide themselves away from others and tension can create a gap between those who they fight with constantly. This causes family members to appearing greater than one is, in order to reduce the tension between two people. In order to appear greater Happy tells his family that he is an assistant manager of a business, however, he is one of two assistants to the assistant manager. The same thing does Willy, when he tells his wife they are financially stable and is still making the money he used too. While in reality Willy is actually making much less than he used too because he is no longer in the prime he used to be
