Besides taking decisions as per your values and philosophies, recognizing and understanding a given situation at your work place with respect to the values and philosophies of other team members is also very important. When an individual is able to establish a link between his or her own personal values with those of his or her employer, then a powerful connection is created (Anonson, 2014). As my personal experience, I had a situation where the company wanted to retain its profits for further investments, and the shareholders, on the other hand, wanted the profits to be distributed as dividends. At that time, my values in terms of leadership were to achieve the organizational objective, but this situation had influenced my personal values and philosophies and keeping in mind the interest of the stakeholders, I convinced the management to distribute half of the profits as the dividend.
5) I believe that teaching can also change the views of a person regarding leadership as I myself have experienced this in my life. The teacher who I can say had changed my life, and my views of leadership were my English teacher. When I was in 6th grade, there was a student in my class who was quite shy to speak up in the class, but Mr. Sultan (English teacher) showed faith in him and always encouraged him to speak even if he was wrong.
