For Better Or Worse Dramatic Structure
For Better or Worse is a television show full of comedy and drama, produced and written by Tyler Perry. The episodes are thirty minutes long and they all tell a story that correlates with the previous episode. The Feds are Watching was not only a funny episode, but it was also impacted with a lot of much drama. The 3- act structure, the management, and the production of the television show helped this show give viewers a great source of entertainment. The 3-act structure of this episode consists of Richard and Jennifer the two main characters. In the beginning of the show Richard a recently divorced friend of Jennifer’s shows up at her door step drunk. He’s broken about his divorce because his wife, Keysha who took all his money. Devastated with nothing to do and no where to turn he went to Jennifer’s house to crash. Jennifer allows Richard to sleep on the couch, but at three in the morning he creeps …show more content…
There was an establishing shot of an apartment building that actually helped me understand where they where before everything happened instead of having to guess. This scene also consisted of all eye level shots which was perfect for the dialogue between the two characters. Even the ambiance of Jennifer’s room was so beautiful she had lavender colored walls, royal comforter set, and an evenly lit lighting in the room that brought a very soothing sense to the scene. Also the audio which included laughter from an audience background was kind of annoying. There were times when it would get too loud to the point to where I would miss something the character said. However, this did give more of a comical affect on the scene. I think that the scene would have been able to stand alone without as much laughter. This scene was still a great scene and it displayed the credits which were not too much they appeared to be in a Lucida Calligraphy

The lights on the sides of the stage shines right into the audience’s faces that were sitting on the far sides of the house. Besides this distraction, the lighting was often very dim or sparsely lit. I thought it might have been a limitation of the space, but there were a few scenes that were very well lit, so I was confused about the purpose of that. It didn’t really seem to add much to the production and was much more distracting in its limitations than it was enhancing. Sound was a prominent part of the show, often used during the fight scenes. I actually liked the use of sound in the fight scenes. Although the intense music was another component of the over-dramatic action of the show, I felt that it was one of the few necessary ones. There obviously needed to be some sound to fill this time, and it would have been odd for it to be something other than the intense mood that was clearly trying to be created. Besides…

All the elements in the show went perfectly with the actors, the sets, and the lighting. The whole stage was used and the performers moved around throughout the entire stage. In Act One, Sheila and her family are celebrating her engagement to Gerald Croft. Although Sheila is excited and full of joy, she can’t help but wonder why Gerald spent all of last summer avoiding her and blaming it on work, as it says on page 3, “(half serious, half playfully) Yes - except all last summer when you never came near me, and I wondered what had happened to you.” Sheila’s tone with Gerald is quite serious sometimes, even when she is trying to be playful.…

It also helped the audience make sense of the setting because the transitions from scene to scene was quick and there was no background design. The lighting took my experience to a whole new level because it helped bring out all the characters and the settings. This play's setting was all dependent on the lighting because they used the lighting to establish the different settings and I think they were successful. It was the strongest statement in the production because not only did it help us, the audience but also the actors on stage to understand where the barriers were between different the rooms and helped make it look like an enclosed area.…

There was usually only one or two pieces that told you where the scene was taking place, but along with the lighting and sound, it was easily put together and it worked very well. The one problem I had with it was during the play I was under the impression that the room with the couch was some kind of common room for the building, but while reading the study guide, found out that it was supposed to be Fraulein Schneider’s room. This confused me because I don’t get why Fraulein Kost would be bringing her sailors through Fraulein Schneider’s room, but I guess they needed some place to show that part of the story. Also, there were times when there was just too much happening on stage and I got dizzy and confused as to what I should be paying attention to. Over all, I was impressed with their use of space and simplicity. Cabaret was performed on a thrust stage which also added to the feeling of unity and closeness between the performers and the audience. I think that in a play that is meant to make you feel like a part of the show, which Cabaret definitely is, this is important. It was one more way of pulling the audience in and making us “part” of the show. With this stage the action was happening within almost arm length of the front row and there was even a point at the beginning right before the show that actors were talking to the audience. It helped us relate more to the story then if they used a…

One of the most famous plays ever to hit Broadway, “The Phantom of the Opera” written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, is a classic that no one can deny to be amazing. Also, the dazzling music and setting launch the audience back into the time in which this incredible play takes place. Shortly after the Industrial Revolution in Europe, influential countries came together to discuss the colonization of Africa at the Berlin Conference. The European nations divided Africa amongst themselves to gain new resources to further support their empires. This led to Christian missionaries infiltrating Africa to convert the natives. In Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart, he depicts the collapse of the Ibo society during this period. The progression of the colonial encounters contributes to the disintegration of the Ibo culture and cause the village of Umuofia to slowly lose grasp of the things that shape their society. Achebe demonstrates the dynamics of colonization of Umuofia…

Dramatic techniques are used throughout Shakespeare’s Macbeth to explore Macbeth’s relationship with the women in the play. The drama techniques are used as tools by Shakespeare to manipulate the plot and characters, to express fundamental concepts and themes and dictate the actions of the characters. They also create suspense and keep the audience aware throughout the play of the relationship between Macbeth and his wife as well as his interactions with the Weird Sisters through techniques of foreshadowing and dramatic irony. They particularly highlight the change in Macbeth’s character from the hero he is first perceived as, to the perverted, oppressive and disillusioned tyrant he becomes.…
