Odysseus and Forrest Gump each have their moments of Nostalgia. In addition they each use anecdotes. Odysseus encounters many instances where he goes back to a certain point in his life. Here is Odysseus telling of his adventure of sailing to different lands. He and his men are men are raging through the island of Ismarus. “I stormed that place and killed the men who fought plunder we took, and we enslaved the women, to make division, equal shares to all-but on the spot I told them: Back, and quickly! Out to sea again!” (983). In this Odysseus is telling of his adventure of sailing to and invading different vicinities. He is recalling when he and his men are very violent and he kills everyone on this island of Ismarus.”. Forrest Gump also has many moments that are similar to Odysseus when having a flashback. In another scene during the war in Vietnam Bubba is fighting beside Forrest in the war and they are hit with bombs and all of the soldiers are falling back. In both expeditions at sea, the heroes both face challenges in the course of their adventure.
