Fourth Semester Reflection
After looking through the course catalogue, I question how people graduate in four years. Is it possible to cram all of the intriguing classes University of San Diego offers into a mere eight semesters? Before, I believed my path at USD was unwavering. Now, I still know I will never major in any subject held in Shiley, but stepping foot in that building will not immediately kill my GPA. I plan to major in Communications, but now, I see a possibility of adding a minor or two. When classes began, I planned to major in Communications and possibly minor in Marketing. But after paging through the catalog, I realized I highlighted numerous classes that fulfil an English minor. It surprised me that I did not think of it sooner; in high school, I …show more content…
Currently, I am taking Third Semester French and I love it. So far, the material is a mix of concepts from high school and cultural explanations of places I have visited in France. Despite all of this, I barely have any interest in pursuing the Fourth Semester level. Although I love all aspects of French culture and language, minoring in it seems to be a massive undertaking. Learning the literature and history does not interest me nearly as much as learning the language does. Perhaps I will rethink my decision after finishing up this …show more content…
Instead of basing my trip around my major, intersession and summer programs offer classes spanning numerous core requirements. Currently, I wish to complete a religion course in Florence, gain a Communication elective at the Sundance Film Festival, and summer in Paris while studying ethics. For my friends who attend other colleges, their majors dictate where they study abroad; the only program for my friend studying English is London, despite the fact she would love to study in Germany or France. I do not know how many semesters I can commit abroad, but I would love to utilize intersession and summer to spend time outside the

In the article “Making the world safe for stupidity”, Leonard Pitts Jr., columnist for The Miami Herald, claims that marketers believe we are “feeble-mindedness” because of the “idiot warnings” that are on most advertisements. Pitts supports his claim by outlining all advertisements that have “idiot warnings” on them. For example he uses “Like a bread-pudding container that says, “Product will be hot after heating.”” This is to show how marketers believe that we are naïve and don’t have common sense. Then, he changes his claim to “Corporate America is to blame because they have damaged the human species”. Pitts’ purpose is to point out that marketers believe we are idiots in order for readers to see why “idiot warnings” were created. He establishes a disappointing and sarcastic tone for his readers to disapprove and laugh with him.…

To start with, I appreciate your accounts you have provided, regarding your experience you have encountered while attending Liberty University, as a psychology undergraduate. Also, your illustration of Harris, provides powerful confirmation, regarding exercising the mind. However, I diligently read your thoughts about comprehending the theories of Algebra and not being able to clench the information. My reply would be, give it all to God and allow Him to use you. And, by talking to Him, you are developing a personal relationship with Him. What is more, Jesus desires your attention. For that reason, applying these techniques will assist with your fears of Algebra and enable you to understand the course. Do you agree? Lastly,…

This week I have learned lot from Visualizing Learning from Chapters 3, 13, and 14. All the vocabulary words and meaning through pictures all made sense after reading and the examples that were used. I had no difficulty with any of the terms that were used in each of these chapters. I have learned a lot especially in Chapter 14 with Cognitive Therapy and Goals of Psychotherapy. They were self-explanatory and had great examples next to them to help steer me in the right direction. I tend on using what I know out in the real world as well. This week opened my eyes to a lot. In Chapter 15, learning about empathy-altruism hypothesis and egoistic model of altruism, meaning if we had more people in the world that act this way, then there would be less selfish people out there. With different types of therapy out there people do not have excuses on why there is no help at all. Knowing the right people can get you the right help.…

I have learned much in my 11 years in California public school. I learned to write in cursive; I learned my times tables; I learned the equation for a line, and I learned a thing or two about Shakespeare. However, the most important thing I learned is that is that the Common Core doesn’t work. The Common Core Standards Initiative is an approach to keep all American students on the same page. The problem is that it keeps all of us on page 1. In my AP Calculus BC class, my 13 classmates and I are piloting a Common Core textbook. At first, everyone was excited to try something new, but now we groan at the sight of the textbook. While I passed the AP test for the first year of Calculus, it has been a challenge “reviewing” these concepts in the new style. Why change a system that was proven to be successful? California, one of the last states to implement Common Core, actually made a change for the worse. Therefore, I strongly believe that the 28th amendment to the Constitution should be the nationwide abolishment of Common Core.…

Since I had this professor for ECE300 I already had an idea how the class is going to be. The class load is the same as when I had her for ECE300 (I seems like a lot if you don’t plan ahead). An A way I am happy I do not have to go and observe children like previously ECE classes I had taken because of my schedule for this semester. Being able to visit two different CBO’s and talking to parent coordinator seems more flexible with my schedule and I already have ideas where I want to go. At first I did not know what the professor was talking about when she said we had to find “CBO”. All I kept telling myself, what is CBO? Oh god, this seems hard. How can I make this work with my schedule? But once the professor gave us example I had an idea where to go.…

When I hear the word puritan, I think of perfect families, with perfect children, who live together in a harmonious, yet extremely strict atmosphere. In all honesty, I wanted to know the actual definition. When I googled puritan, I found a few different meanings. The one that is easiest for me to understand came from “The free dictionary.com. It says, “Scrupulous moral rigor, especially hostility to social pleasures and indulgences with extreme, often excessive strictness in moral or religious matters. I believe no family is perfect, so I was excited to read the Essay.…
