only man is shirtless the movie can be rated PG. Free the nipple is not about women showing off their bodies, it is about stopping people from viewing women’s bodies as something negative. People should not make women feel bad about supporting a campaign that is just trying to make genders equal in a peaceful way. Free the Nipple is about equality, not about being topless all the time. Woman should be allowed to be topless wherever men are, women’s nipples are not sex organs. Censoring the female nipple will do more harm then good when it comes to women’s rights. “The Free the Nipple Campaign is about eliminating the physical boundaries of genders. The theory behind Free the Nipple is that physical differences are what divide genders and is where gender roles began” (Reeder, Veronica). In some countries women can not vote or drive and if a woman is raped it is considered adultery and they are stoned to death. Allowing women to be shirtless where men are allowed to be shirtless will help to eliminate gender boundaries but it will not eliminate them all together. Several different problems need to be changed
before gender boundaries are eliminated completely. Although many people are for free the Nipple, there are also people against it. Some parents are against this campaign because they do not want their children to see female breasts. This is a poor argument because one of the first things a child sees when they are born are female breasts. Female breasts and their ability to produce milk have a large impact on the growth and health of a child. Others make the argument that having all of these women shirtless would increase sexual assault. That is ridiculous, if men can not learn to control themselves there is something wrong with our society. It will take time to get used to women being shirtless but men need to understand that just because a woman is shirtless that does not mean they have the right to assault her. One more reason people are against Free the Nipple is that it could be distracting. As stated before, it will take time to get used to, but just because people are distracted that doesn't mean that a woman’s freedom should be taken from her. At one point in history men were not allowed to be shirtless and when it first became legal it was very strange. Now if we see a man shirtless in public places such as the beach we don't even think twice about it. Many people support Free the Nipple because it addresses equal rights for women, a more balanced system of censorship, and legal rights for all woman to breastfeed in public.
Free the Nipple is trying to bring awareness to this campaign through media, grassroots campaigns, and film. I think that more people should research this topic, learn more about it, and hopefully spread the word to more people and gain attention on this campaign and help change the world for the better. This campaign needs to be addressed, women’s breasts shouldn't be seen as a sex symbol, instead they should be seen as a norm to society. It is causing a huge problem for gender equality and female rights. Please, help this campaign be known and bring this issue to the eyes of America, our government, and those who can help change the laws and recognize all woman as equal
citizens.
