…You never really know when you are going to meet the love of your life. One night, my father, the Venetian Senator hosted a dinner party at our home. That was when I first met my dear Othello. My father introduced me to him, though he did not have the intention of me being interested in him. I did not know anyone there and he wanted me to feel included. Othello is a Moor in the Venetian Army. We sat together at dinner, and we talked all night. We got along really well and realized we had a lot in common. I know this is going to sound bad, but we fell in love, ran away, and got married. I know your father is supposed to be the one to approve of your mate before marriage, but I felt I needed to break away from my father, show my independence to him, all while expressing my love to Othello. When we came back, my father found out, and of course was extremely angry at me. I love my father with all my heart, but he wouldn’t listen to me no matter what I said. Othello is everything to me and I couldn’t possibly go on without him. I respect my father. I know what I did was wrong, but I believe it was the right thing to do, because I love my dear Othello with all my heart and soul.
…I have feelings toward Othello and my father in different ways. My father is a wonderful man, full of love and compassion. Although he was very loving, he had a very bad temper, got angry at me more than he should have, and was unbelievably strict. For my entire life I had to live under his strict rules. I felt I needed to break free from my family and go be on my own, but I knew that was absurd and out of the question. Growing up was fun and I love my family, but I felt it was defiantly time to break away from my childhood family life, and start a family of my own. Othello is an unbelievably caring man who loves me with all of his heart, as do I. He listens to me
