Japan is one of the most affected countries by natural disasters because of it’s geographical placement on the tectonic plates. In 2011 Japan was impacted by a monumental earthquake that caused a tsunami. This provoked the nuclear plant Fukushima Daiichi to leak radioactive material into the farm lands of Japan. Fukushima was overheating due to equipment failure, and loss of coolant agent. This was the result of a nuclear meltdown. It was rapidly shut down to prevent any further complications, but The vague knowledge on Fukushima Daiichi left uncertainty about whether the nuclear plant was sealed or if was still leaking.
As the meltdown started to take place, Masao Yoshida and some colleagues sacrificed themselves to prevent anymore emissions from being spread. A Nobel Peace award was given in honour of their lives. Ex-prime minister of Japan, Naoto Kan announced that they had successfully sealed the plant and any further investigation would be nearly impossible due to the amount of radiation in the given area. This dilemma made cleanup more difficult because of the amount of examination that it required, as well as the need for caution when dealing with possible hazardous material. Fukushima spilled a miniscule quantity considering the amount of reactors that were in meltdown, but the unknown knowledge …show more content…
The inhabitants in the area of Fukushima were skeptical about living in a place disposed to nuclear impacts and whether or not the plant is completely sealed. It’s estimated billions of dollars has been spent to rebuild japan. In five year Japan has rebuilt Japan and seems to have no problems with the reactor other than it’s mystery. Keep in mind how much damage was done, and how quickly they reconstructed. Today they are still unsure about whether the reactor is completely sealed but they have managed to overcome the nuclear
