Future of Education
Technology and the Future of Formal Education The responsibilities for the formal preparation of students for education in the future are dynamic and diverse. What priorities are most important for the future of the Australian education system? The mission statement of The Cathedral School is to be a caring, Christian community in which students are challenged and inspired to explore, learn and grow so they will be equipped to make wise decisions as informed members of society. The Aims of The Cathedral School is; To be a centre for academic excellence. To encourage an understanding that the spiritual and moral aspects of life are central to our humanity. To affirm the unique worth of the individual. To inspire our students through creative, purposeful, enjoyable learning to reach their full potential. To develop attitudes which are anticipatory, visionary and reflective. To educate our students to be discerning, sensitive and responsible. Both the mission statements as well as the aims are very thorough, but they lack the understanding of the information age. They do not mention technology or the future ahead. The change to the culture of the classroom environment with the introduction of technology is a serious matter to look at. Overall the introduction of technology in the classroom is a great benefit to students, giving them access to word processing applications, as well and access to the World Wide Wed and CD-ROM's. This large amount of knowledge flowing from the computer to the brains of the students is very overwhelming. Students will have to learn how to sift though this large amount of information to find what is important, trust worthy and also most importantly, relevant. The importance of information technology literacy in the information age is a vital life skill. In order to be able to handle and access information a student will need to have the ability to use a computer well. If a student has not had

Throughout my nine years of schooling at Mary Queen of Peace, I have been blessed with many amazing experiences and opportunities and have deeply grown in my faith. Ever since I was younger, I have always felt at home at MQP. The people here form a loving community, and I have found many of my best friends through here. I don’t know where I would be today, without these friends. Yes, I know that I would have made friends at any school, but I don’t think that I could ever find friends as wonderful as the ones I have made here. What makes Mary Queen so unique, compared to other schools, apart from the people, is all of the service opportunities that we have here. Each grade focuses on a different aspect of stewardship (examples are social justice, feeding the hungry, the military) to focus on throughout the year. We go on field trips, have collections for essential items, and do many more kind acts based on our theme for the year. Throughout all of…

Learning for adults is a field of study in and of itself. The study of adult learning, or andragogy, has come a long way and it is a relatively new idea. Society has tended to be so focused on teaching children, that only in the last century or so have educators come to realize that different methods should be used to more successfully educate adult learners.…

The abacus, the slate, the red pad of paper, it is amazing to view the ever-changing technology in education today. As a society, not only has our language and communication developed, but the way that language and communication are expressed has changed drastically. In Mathematics an abacus was used to solve problems, now a student can program a graphing calculator to solve problems for them. Some schools allow children to bring laptops into class with them, in other schools it is mandatory that all students have a laptop to bring to school. From having no computers in the classroom to having dozens of computers in the classroom has been an evolution of the educational system. Technology in the educational system consists of many mediums, and the…
