The personal philosophy of nursing is a very complex thing to put into words, it is more of a feeling and intuition about a profession, than it is words or actions. The articles make us accountable for our education, “nurses should practice to the full extent of their education and training.” (Institute Of Medicine [IMO], 2010, p. 2) The article goes on to say also that nurses should achieve higher levels of education in order to provide delivery of safe, patient centered care. Patient needs are becoming more complex and competencies may be in order to maintain adequate knowledge to treat these illnesses. (IMO, 2010) Nurses need to take an active role in redesigning healthcare in the United States, many things are changing and everyone in the health care field needs to work together in order to positively change the system. These ideas are already affecting my nursing as it motivated me to finish what I have started and to put one hundred percent of myself into my education. These ideas challenge me to reach a higher potential than initially envisioned through this
