Future Tutor Experience
Dear future tutor,

I am writing to you to inform you about the great experience you will have as a peer tutor. During peer tutoring sessions, you will have the oppurtunity to help students meet the learning objectives, go over notes, review, and hopefully help them achieve in their learning. Peer tutoring, may also be a great experience for future teachers. For peer tutoring, assignments may contain simple questions about the class enviornment, content covered during class sessions, and how you helped a student that day. As a peer tutor, I have learned to have patience with the student(s).

As you help the student(s) during tutoring sessions, you may also be helping the teacher. In my experience, many times the teacher would struggle helping out so many students, that I may needed to help her out. During my sessions, I was in a sophomore Biology class. Most of the time when the students had class experiments and labs, I would only help if they needed material, becuase they were very cooperative with each other and knew what they were supposed to do. The times I had to explain the assignment and content to them, I had to learn to be patient with them. I enjoyed helping Ms. Baker because she had a lot of students and I would help her out with anything I could. Most of

Some people or students may work at a difference pace than you do, because it either takes time for them to learn the material, or they learn it so fast that they end up teaching you. I see this as a good thing and it may help you out in future job locations. If you decide to go to a university or just work after high school, peer tutoring may prepare you by learning to work with others. As an underclassman, you may want to start thinking about what classes you may want to take your senior year, so I highly encourage you to select peer tutoring as a

In addition to my enthusiasm for investing in young lives, I have done some volunteering as a teaching assistant to get some hands-on classroom experience for formal teaching. My experience at the school allowed me to acquire a number of skills and also help enhance my weaker ones. The key skills and strength that I possess for success include my enthusiasm and dedication to my assigned duties and my ability to support and inspire young people through being a good listener to them and offering appropriate advice. I am also highly skilled in assisting the instructor in supervision of students’ arrival and departure time, performing clerical and record keeping tasks and maintaining discipline of the classroom in the absence of the instructor. One of my greatest strengths is helping maintain a well-disciplined learning environment, with minimal interruptions and maximum productivity. This is achieved by pulling misbehaving students aside, reinforcing positive behaviour, and implementing a reward system.…

In school, I saw my peers were having trouble academically without individual attention. They would seek help from teachers, but would still not understand the material. This lack of learning turned into a hatred for the subjects, which translated into a hatred for school. My friends studied for hours only to fail their tests and fall behind. I was shocked and disappointed, but I understood that public school teachers faced a difficult student to teacher ratio. Since I exceled in the classes my friends struggled in, I realized that I could help them. In fact, it was my duty to prevent the development of a generation that abhorred learning. Therefore I began tutoring my peers and sacrificed…

The four most important aspects of my role as a peer tutor would be showing leadership, communication, flexibility and having a positive impact on students. Each of these aspects are important and all contribute to my role as a peer tutor, without any of them I don't think I would perform as well in the classroom. Showing leadership and having a positive impact on others have changed over the course of the semester. At the beginning of the semester my leadership skills weren't as inclined as they currently are. Over the course of the semester, I have gained confidence and demonstrated leadership and initiative while peer tutoring. Also, I saw a change in how students approached me; they are presently more comfortable asking me questions in…

Yes, last week was really difficult for me! I'm pursuing my degree in nursing through Arizona College and doing my prerequests through Keiser University, so I was able to take advantage of the free tutoring available at Arizona College. I put my kids in daycare for the week and I was at the Arizona College campus from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. studying and being tutored. I feel that I understand the concepts that we are studying each week, however the math portion is what I'm having a hard time with since I havent taken a math class in about ten years. I feel that I'm able to do the problems but they are taking me a long time to complete and since the time frame for the test is fifty minutes I run out of time and I'm left guessing on some of the…

Through the course of five weeks I have tutored a third grader by the name of Willy one hour each Thursday. Willy is a high-spirited kid who loves to learn. He goes to a school named Corpus Christi, a school I spent my sixth through eighth grade years at, and is also the organization I volunteered for. I chose this particular work because I love working with kids considering I have 4 younger brothers and sisters. This also gave me an opportunity to put my knowledge to good use and to be a good role-model towards Willy. What I gained from this experience is satisfaction from helping a young student cope with his academic struggles and learn to surpass them in order to be successful. I most definitely would do this project again if I had the chance.…

During the months of September and October this semester I spent time at two different schools in four different classrooms. Being able to observe different classes and teachers at Westside Junior High and South Live Oak Elementary was a very new and exciting experience for me since I can’t say I’ve always wanted to be a teacher. My experiences at these schools gave me a better insight into the differences between schools, classrooms, and teachers. The purpose of this field experience was to get 10 observation or tutoring hours in an elementary or junior high setting. I chose to observe a few different classrooms instead of tutoring students.…
