periods, esspecialy the periods in which we learned of in class. G-Eazy's music does not employ a symphony or an orchestra but instead uses beats and melodies which are produced using a computer software like FL Studio or other similar programs. These computer softwares are often known as Digital Audio Workstation's and produce most of the Popular Music you hear on the radio now. Once the tune of the music is produced, G-Eazy sings ontop of it, which leads to the creation of his music. I think it's intresting to review this type of modern music because G-Eazy's music, like many other Popular Music of this time, use computer softwares to create their melody. Computer softwares are becoming the future of our music industry because not only can they produce Popular Music like G-Eazy's, which are random tones and beats but they can also simulate a whole orchestra. I would like to a imagine a modern Mozart of our time that could create complex masterpieces with just a Digital Audio Workstation. It would be truly amazing, but I do not think technology has advanced to the point where the sounds would be perfectly similar to the orechestra's of real life. Enough about the type of music G-Eazy plays the whole point of this essay is the concert itself. The G-Eazy concert I attended occurred on January 26, 2016 at Terminal 5 in New York City. The concert included performances from not only G-Eazy but from artists such as Bebe Rexha, Kehlani and more. Altough G-Eazy's music is far from complex as compared to music from artists such as Mozart, Betthhoven, Haydn, Schubert and many more, G-Eazy makes up for it with his lyrics and performance. G-Eazy's lyrics are just inspiring, hopeful, enlightning and real. When entering the concert hall you can just feel all the good energy and positivity going through the air and when the concert started it was a pretty much a party from thereon out. Instead of just sitting there and staring at a bunch of people play instruments, I got a whole parade like performance. G-Eazy wasn't just singing his lyrics and standing there on the stage like a snowman, he was interacting with his crowd. Expirencing G-Eazy in person with like minded fans made the expierence so much more incredible than just listening to the music in the car. Instead of just being a viewer you were able to feel like you were a part of the show. During G-Eazy's performance he sang many of his old songs and many of his new songs.
One song that really stood out to me is “Me, Myself & I” which features Bebe Rexha and had a verse-chorus form. G-Eazy would rap his verse and than the chrous would return to Bebe Rexha's singing. In this song G-Eazy relfects on his present life and how it is now that his dream of becoming a famous performer has come true. What makes this song special is that the listener can relate the lyrics to themselves without having to be a famous performer. Yes, G-Eazy's verses are about the cars, girls and clothing that he has but they are also about his friends, his hard work, and how what he did in his life were his choices. While this song was performed, many images and emotions rouse in my head. Those images being many tough and frustrating moments in my life where I kept my chin up and that I have overcome. The song made me feel stronger, inspired and highly motivated. Bebe Rexha's voice really helped fuel my emotions even more as it was truly energizing and beautiful. Her pieces of the song were arguably my favoirte parts to listen to. The chorus appeared through the many dynamics of the song. The song would go from being low and calming to high and exciting and didn't really have many variations. To top it all off, the strength of the crowd made the song all the more powerful as they knew all the words to the song. In the end, it was that type of song that with the crowd singing together gave you
goosebumps. Overall, G-Eazy's peformance as well as Bebe Rexha and Kehlani's were phenomenal. The whole concert was just a fun and loving expierence. G-Eazy did an amazing job making the crowd feel as if he were a part of them and brought the crowd into his world. From crowd surfing to singing with the crowd, his interaction with the fans was great. His first appearance on stage just had the whole crowd jumping and everyone excited for the show that was about to come. His songs which are good were even better when they were heard live with a crowd that was so lively. Some of his songs which were emotional were still able to keep you feeling good. I am definitely planning on being at his next concert when he returns to New York.
