Grade 11: 2014-15
ASL includes the assessment of both speaking and listening.
Listening: 45 min
In listening activity, four short audios will be played and students have to answer four sets of objective type questions related to each audio.
Speaking: 8 min
In speaking activity students will be paired randomly. This activity consists of three phases
a) Introductory Phase (1min) – In this phase the examiner and students introduce each other and creates a cordial atmosphere for the rest of the activity.
b) Topic Phase (Individual activity – 3-4 min) – Each student has to prepare on any one of the following topics
Media and Networking
Health and Fitness
Natural Resources
Ethics and Values
Urbanization
Adolescence
Spots and sportsmanship
Art and Aesthetcs
During the topic phase, student A of the pair will present his/her topic. Then student B and the examiner can ask question to student A based on his/her presentation. The same procedure is repeated with student B.
c) Problem Solving Phase (3-4 min): The pair is given a problem solving card which contains a problem or a situation. The students have to involve actively in a discussion on the given problem and find a solution for the same.
***Students will be assessed on the following descriptors – Fluency, Pronunciation, Language accuracy and vocabulary, Coherence of ideas and interactive &communication skills.
