An example that woman see themselves as sex objects could be one of the nikie advertisements. One nikiey advertisement is “MY BUTT is BIG” This advertisement portrays women to have a big butt and just do it. Not only do advertisements destroy the image of women, they also destroy the image of men. Advertising portray men by using them as stronger person and expressing the one who should be built and tough. When men begin to see themselves as objects, it also influences them that they should act and be the same way to attract other females. Many citizens believe that advertisements are becoming further more offensive. Sex and nudity are the most troubling and controversial issues. For example, critics have high disparaged Calvin Klein for the level of nudity and sexual suggestiveness in various advertisements. Calvin Klein has a history of pushing sex and nudity to the limit. Producers should also be cautious of what they promote subsequently, that it will not affect the older and young viewers. In addition, stereotyping can occur in advertisements geared toward and containing children.
It is unethical to children, especially young teens. Boys are often displayed as violent or insistent, while girls are portrayed as more exquisite or feminine. Some advertisements play to the stereotype of young men as shallow and superficial. Beer commercials, for instance, often demonstrate males as showing effort of engaging in sophomoric pranks or actions to impress women. With married couples in the process of making a household decision, the husband may be presented as a fairly dim individual who means well but is essentially incompetent. The wife, on the other hand, is depicted as the one who is really in control of the situation and knows how to rectify the problem by using the advertised products. Advertising can also perpetuate racial stereotypes that have lasted for generations. Take McDonald's for consideration. It came under heavy criticism for creating an advertisement depicting Chinese people who had difficulty pronouncing the letter "r." In England, the Advertising Standards Authority banned an ad showing a black man playing a ukulele and repeating every word a white man says, saying that the ad could be seen as showing blacks as subservient or inferior to
whites. In summary, they are many different types of stereotypes in advertisements. This includes gender, racial, and sexual. Many people get offended by advertisements and it is also unsuitable for certain ages. Critics should be cautious of what they promote and how they advertise it.
