They are only out for their own agenda and do not care about the unethical practices they are doing to make a profit. General Nutrition Center has a reputation for misleading the general public. In 2004, Abbey Spanier Rodd Abrams, LLP files a class action lawsuit on behalf of consumers against General Nutrition Center for violating consumer protection laws. This lawsuit was filed due to GNC having products in their store that had misleading labels. It was proven that some products they were selling did not contain the milligrams and products that were listed on the label (Marketing Weekly News, 2012). Misleading people has been a pattern for this company and has lead to many lawsuits by consumers and franchisee against the company. Under the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act, the company violated laws by misleading consumers and not giving accurate milligrams and ingredients that many of their products contained. This law was enacted by the Federal Trade Commission and the Food and Drug administration in 1967 to insure that companies do not falsify information of their products. Under the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, enacted in 2008 Gnc was in violation of misleading consumers about the products they were selling (Seaquist, 2012). This violated many tort laws put in place to protect consumers against this type of activity from happening. Many of the products were considered to be dangerous for consumers and had to be recalled for consumer protection. Gnc and companies such as Woodbolt Inc. were fined and sued for this violation. This is just an example of how GNC has misled people in the pass and are now misleading those who buy franchise store (Marketing Weekly News, 2012). General Nutrition Center is a large company who has a great reputation for health and fitness. It is one of the leading health stores in the country. The problem is the company has lost the ability to connect with not only their…
Legal and Regulatory- These forces impact Green Mountain Coffee Rosters daily. In my opinion the one legal or regulatory force GMCR encounters is the Clayton Act. This stands out to me because of all the brands that are under the GMCR banner (Lister, 2012). The Clayton act prohibits board of directors being in position to make decisions for competing companies working under the same corporate banner.…

During the 1970’s, General Mills began its move into the restaurant industry by purchasing a five unit chain called Red Lobster, and expanded it across the nation. A decade later, they added Olive Garden to the list. In recent years, GM has decided to include whole grain in all of its cereal products; in an attempt to capture customers with the growing health concerns in America. Shortly after, General Mills continued on that path by creating cereal that was not only whole grain, but contained less sugar as well. They supply tens of thousands of jobs to communities around the world, and with that, comes organizational behavior.…
