Generations in the Workplace
In todays' society the workplace is filled with people who act different, look different, and do their job differently. This is due to the different generations in the workplace today. These generations are the veterans, baby boomers, gen x, and gen y. The veterans are the oldest generation in the workplace. They were born from before 1946 and lived through World War II and the Great Depression. Being born during this time, they usually tend to have a high level of respect for authority. They understand discipline and believe in going above and beyond to get their job done. They believe hard work and dedication will get them where they want to be.
The Baby Boomers are the next ondest generation. they were born between 1946 and 1965. They tend to be very optimistic and work incredibly hard. The people in the baby boomer generation find leadership and team work very important in order for the workplace to prosper. They also are very involved in theiir job and tasks that need to be completed even if it is not their responsibilty to complete them.
The next generation is generation x.The folks in this generation this generationwere born betwen 1965-1979. this an independent generation. They act like entrepreneurs and believe work time and family time should both be taken into account. they do not want work to take over their life and therefore create a boundary so they can also have a socal and family life. They want a balance between work and life.
The last generation is generatirn y. Generation Y was born between 1980-2000. Ths is a very technology advanced generation. they rely on phones and the internet to get their work done. They believe tht using this technoloogy can help them multitask and change the world. They do not mnd diversity and encourage volunteer work because it gives you job experience.
At the end of the day everyone needs a job to survive. therefore, all these generations must work together. They do this to help the company. They work

    The Boomers were raised in very hard times when there was little work, food or places to live. As World War 2 ended and the depression was over, Boomers raised families under the premise that they didn't' want to see their children suffer as they did.
