Just like any other medical procedures there are a variety of risks that can interfere with a successful genetic modification procedure. To begin with this procedure can result in unpredictable responses from the immune system of the embryo. Genetic modification requires the introduction of a virus into the targeted cells. This process can go wrong if the wrong cells are targeted and the virus reacts negatively with the host cells. It may cause infections that can lead to further complications. They are given both a positive and negative impression. In other word, depending how it is used, it can both save or hurt society. The debate program I chose was Intelligence Squared and was on the Prohibition of Genetically Engineered Babies. The debate was mediated by John Donvan and took place in February 2013. The two views were for and against the prohibition of genetically modifying the human genome. To start off the debate two debaters on each side stated their case. As the scientists tend to disagree with the logicians and logicians tend to disagree with both. People wonder why the world is so violently shaken by angry words, well it seems obvious to me. It’s a strong and healthy trait to stick to your guns with your opinion but what happens when the saying, “agree to disagree” doesn’t count anymore? When does compromising become handy? At this point, we might be farther along in advancement if not for sputters of spiteful words. "Religion" is the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, esp. a personal God or gods. Religion can be very cloudy for a closed mind to new ideas. They refuse to see the scientific or logical edge to anything controversial; they don’t even care if it makes sense. "Science" is a discipline for seeking ways to observe and explain conclusions based on the world around us. Science can be very black and white, maybe with a few tints of gray where knowledge is slim, but it can be a very stubborn subject when people try to mix religion in.
