Genetically Modified Organisms Persuasive Essay
Don’t you know you may swallow an infection every time you eat? That’s exactly what you are doing if you’re not too careful. There is something called GMO’s that are Genetically Modified Organisms that contain a specific code of genetic material from another organism. I am against genetically modified organisms they should be destroyed not served. I am against genetically modified organisms they should be destroyed not served because they will cause a disaster that is waiting to happen. GMO’s are harmful not just to humans but animals and plants. GMO’s promote diseases to be spreaded in common contact between the two which us as humans will eat as nutrition eventually putting us in the circle as well. Potential health risks will occur to human …show more content…
GMO’s contain an organism that scientist can't even test because of ( EPA) which is a act that denies any other personal testing or experiments outside of the direct. Scientist say “ We should think twice before we eat the next box of American breakfast cereal if the corn is GMO.” People that support GMO’s will say that there is no scientific argument that they are harmful. Truth is we really don't know what else we eat as consumers but scientists cannot test if they are denied so? Really what are they hiding in factories about GMO’s if they can't be tested ? Hmmm…. Others say that GMO’s are natural or they protect the plant from insects and drought. So what you kill the insects and to say it's natural is a wicked tail. Killing insects and drought resistant who wants such foods? Corn, Squash, soybean, papaya, sugar beet, and canola are all being produced in the United States and other countries that contain genetically modified organisms. The genetically modified foods are not natural food as the producers would say. Genetically Modified Foods are not real that's plastic, fake and it should be destroyed. Last time I checked insects were apart of the outside world not

Many people look at GMOs with a sort of view as if to ask: Why should I eat new GMO crops, when I could eat a crop that has been around for millennia? What they don’t understand, is that there is really no such thing as a crop that scientists just altered. People have been modifying plants since the creation of agriculture twelve thousand years ago. While it may have been done differently back then, the current method of genetically modifying plants is just a more deliberate way of doing what humankind has always done. The only difference now is that people have a scientific understanding of what they are doing and have improved agricultural techniques; advancements in agriculture have moved from the farm to the lab. The reason that I think so many people are opposed to GMOs, is because they don’t understand what they are, and because they think that scientists are doing something radical in making GMOs; they fear the unknown.”(Chrisopher…

The risks to our health and exposed for using genetically modified crops or plants have not been yet proven because we are too early in the game of this genetically modification and engineering process. Thinking that this is a small solution to our problem for hunger and feeding Americans, then maybe they are just creating more problems that may not have solutions for in the future. However, the US National Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine, states otherwise. In a new report that details how genetically modified organisms are apparently safe for human consumption and surprisingly, also have significant benefits for human health and the environment(FDA.org). They base their findings on an intensive and detailed report with past studies about GMOs. The many interviews with scientists, researchers and field experts that have data stating that they are not bad for one’s health. This helps determine whether it is good or bad for the health when it comes to eating genetical modified foods. They even have a new study that suggests that when crops are being engineered to improve human health, by altered to produce more vitamins or nutrients. This might be one good side of it, but why should we playing with mother nature? This is a big gamble we are…

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO)/Genetically Engineered (GE) foods are the result of laboratory processes which artificially insert genes into the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) of food crops or animals. There are many arguments both in favor of and against mandatory labeling of GMO/GE foods. Whether or not to require labeling of GMOs or GE foods also involves the debate over the risks and benefits of food crops produced using biotechnology. However, the overarching argument is consumers have a right to know what is in their food, especially concerning products that can cause allergic reactions. According to the Campaign for Healthier Eating in America, Genetically Modified (GM) foods are linked to toxic and allergic reactions, sick, sterile, and dead livestock, and damage to virtually every organ studied in lab animals (http://www.responsibletechnology.org). Because there is no scientific evidence that GMO/GE foods do or do not cause health issues in humans (because there have been no long-term studies), consumers may or may not be being harmed by GMOs. However, the safety of GMOs has been questioned by other countries. In fact, they are banned by food manufacturers in Europe and other countries, but, present in the majority of meats, produce, diary and processed foods in the United States (US). Many consumers in the US have no knowledge that they are consuming GMOs. If they did, it is now known if, similar to Europe, many would prefer to not consume GMO/GE foods. However, without proper labeling, the big issue of concern is, they do not know how to avoid them if they wanted to.…

Def/Explanation: Firstly, GMO is an acronym for Genetically Modified Organisms. What this concept is can be briefly explained by the following analogy. Suppose I take Iman* and Ibrahim* to take part in a science experiment. I take some of Iman’s genes, duplicate it and put it in Ibrahim’s body. Then I present Ibrahim in front of you all and tell you that this new Ibrahim is far stronger, efficient and beneficial to all of you and the society. You guys don’t know anything that has happened with Ibrahim internally and are just brainwashed that he is better for us. Similarly, GMOs are created but instead of humans they’re experimented on crops and animals. Therefore, because it is inhumane, defies the laws of nature and have consequences that are unknown to us, I strongly believe that GMOs should be completely banned from our society, once and for all!…

Genetic Modification (GM) or Genetic Engineering (GE) is the process of manipulating genomes from an organism, such as plants and animals, to another using the techniques of biotechnology. Genetic modified foods are created from the procedures of genetic engineering and play an important role in the society’s lifestyle. GM foods can be both beneficial and disadvantageous to the society and environment. It can be advantageous as it can improve agricultural production, help improve nutrition in the body and also contribute to medical research. However it can also be disadvantageous as it may harm organisms in the environment, be a factor of human illnesses and its cost inefficiency.…

Food shortage, world hunger, an starvation have been a big problem for the world. Scientist are trying to grab a hold of these problems before matters get any worse. Food shortage, world hunger, and starvation are three reasons as to why scientists have decided to modify foods. GM foods are a new genetically modified way to "improve" crop production, but these new improvements are not as helpful as scientists planned them to be. GM foods should play no role in the global food supply because GM foods have no beneficial role within humans lives.…

How would you feel if I told you that the food you're eating was made in a science lab? Genetically modified organisms, or GMOs, are the outcome of a laboratory process where genes from the DNA of one species are extracted and artificially manipulated into the genes of an uncorrelated plant or animal. Crops are often genetically modified to be resistant to pesticides so farmers would be able to spray them without harming the crop itself. However, there are many consequences regarding consumers’ health and environmental problems. Many people question the safety of consuming genetically modified organisms. Companies should acknowledge that their product is genetically modified by placing a label on the product because customers have a right to know. Furthermore, there are several serious health complications that may rise to the consumer. And finally, genetically modifying organisms should be limited by being placed in a controlled environment to prevent contamination with other species because it can be harmful to the environment in several ways.…

Genetically Modified Organisms have become a scientific phenomenon in curing world hunger. Unfortunately, over one billion people fall victim to one of the world’s leading causes of death, malnourishment. Many critics believe that GMOs do not provide enough nutrients and “good stuff”, therefore they believe that many people consuming GMOs are in danger. Others say that GMOs can fix world hunger because they can produce hundreds of GM foods at a time. My side is to believe that GMO shouldn’t be used to solve the problem of world hunger.…

Not all foods are as they seem. Certain foods labeled as a Genetically modified organisms, which are more commonly known as GMOs Free, are in fact not. GMOs are foods that have added bacteria and genes. There are only certain labels that can be trusted on some foods you eat and cook with today. The apple that a child is eating can in fact be genetically modified to make it cheaper and more readily available. There are labels you can trust, such as ones that say “Organic”, or “Non-GMO Project Verified”. One may see “GMOs free” , or “Non-GMOs” they do not have certain standards to stay up to date with. Food labeled “Organic” do not contain GMOs (Harrar 97-100). Organic foods are healthier than GMOs.…

I was born and raised in a small rural town in western Kansas. I have learned hardworking values growing up on a farm. My family relies on farming and ranching as a way of life. So, when I hear people talking about how GMO’s are bad for people’s health and our environment, it makes me feel concerned about the information people are receiving. GMO’s don’t affect the health of people or the environment at all. Instead they help to improve crop yields by modifying the seeds according to where a person lives by being drought resistant or bug resistant for example. This helps farmers and ranchers such as my family to make more profit from a higher yield. This results in more food produced which can help in a world with an ever-growing population.…

Imagine a world where we can have two of everything. Think about the possibilities. Imagine having two Ankits. Actually, I kinda want to take that back now. One Ankit is already too much. I might as well walk myself off the stage, but before that happens, I need to tell you a bit about genetic engineering and cloning. So what is genetic engineering and cloning? Well genetic engineering is the deliberate modification of the characteristic of an organism by manipulating its genetic material. While cloning is using this genetic material to produce an exact replica of the original organism. Both these processes have…

Many people are against Genetically modified foods because of the unknown long term effects and environmental effects. There were concerns about how GMO’s can affect other animals. “ GMOs may be toxic to non-target organisms, bees and butterflies being the most talked-about examples currently. Bees are hugely important in the pollination of many food crops.” (Emily Glass) If this true, this can be the biggest reason why GMO’s should be banned. Another reason how it could affect the environment is by making it a monoculture in our ecosystem. “When GM crops are planted, generally in a monocrop fashion, many heritage seeds are no longer used. The nature of GMOs means fewer weed flowers and, therefore, less nectar for pollinators. “ (Emily Glass.) Having a monoculture can result in quicker spread of diseases and can cause an economic disaster. They’re many possible consequences of genetically modifying foods but most of the possible consequences are predictions or theories.…

The controversial issue of genetically modified foods, commonly known as GM’s, has only gained the attention of millions, since it became a prominent and highly debated global issue. Genetically modified foods are created when the genes of an organism are engineered and modified to create a new or enhanced version of that organism. The process of using different genes from different sources to genetically modify foods led to public outcry and sometimes, praise. People in support of genetically modified foods claims it will enhance the quality of the food, improve the food’s resistance to pests and other harmful elements, lower food costs, and also increase food security for the future. However, those opposed to genetically modified foods claim…
