Signs and symptoms of genital herpes will not occur until few months or years after you’re exposed to the virus. Once it occurs, a person may experience:

Flu-like symptoms: fever or muscle aches or swollen lymph nodes in the neck
An eye infection: HSV may spread from one to another eye. This can lead to cloudy vision or loss of vision
