George Washington Farewell Address Analysis

on September 19 , 1796, President George Washington, published his Farewell Address I the American Daily Advertiser. Within this address, Washington discussed why he wished to retire and gave some advice on how to keep the nation's unity . While Washington stated there should be unity with the government, he also wrote that the North and South should remain at peace in order to benefit each other. In his address it is important to remember that George Washington said while every part of the country feels particular interest is important to stick together to become a greater strength, greater resource, greater security. George Washington also wrote that abolishing laws is extremely destructive to the US's fundamental principle.
Additionally George Washington wrote that foreign meddling is a big threat , and do not let it make you slip into other alliances . Washington also made sure to note that when it comes to commercial trade try not to get politically involved. George Washington makes clear his feelings on Europe by saying why quit our own to stand on foreign ground and why mess with the nation's peace to entangle our destiny with Europe. Again Washington clearly emphasizes we must avoid permanent alliances, but in the same way we should stay politically friendly . Towards the end of his address Washington says I'm not going to hope you remember all this but I hope people look back on this address a few times. He additionally states that in his years in charge he's done his best to follow the ideas in this message. In the closing of his speech George Washington speaks on the war going on in Europe and to look at his plan he said in April 22nd, 1793. At the end of George Washington's farewell address he states I am unaware of any in intentional errors while serving as president and I am very happy to resign
