As for the Election of 1800, my fellow shipbuilders and I continue to support whoever can grant our original wishes for the next President. A sturdy economic plan able to provide our nation with prosperity and stability is crucial to our next President’s ideas. Better yet, a focus on foreign relations with other nations while maintaining our own set of core values is vital for the next President. Developing a connected relationship with other countries will open business and trade opportunities benefiting not only the shipbuilding industry, but ones across the nation too. In addition, preservation of unalienable rights promised in the Constitution is not only important to have but also to have guaranteed.

Washington keep all foreign affairs strictly into account. He states that our conflicts and relations with france have weakened greatly from the end of the revolution and there is no doubt they need to be addressed and restored. Reestablishing strong foreign ties with France can help grow our recent overseas trade with them and increase the demand for ships nationally. Mr. Washington also believes that personal desires are not integral to making political choices, and the role of president requires a tremendous sense of responsibility, whoever that role may belong to.
