The Vietnamese war and the policies of the government during the 1970’s were chaotic enough, yet against the protests of left wing radicalists, such as Nick and Lucy in COSI, protagonists of the Vietnamese war, society had descended into anarchy, the madness of society comparable to that of a mental institution. War is mad enough yet after the development of nuclear technologies and policies of Mutually Assured Destruction, war, the Vietnamese war was pure inconceivable madness. It was no wonder that protests for the war to cease began, seen in COSI as Nick leads the moratorium against the government” 1,2,3,4 we don’t want your fuckin’ war. Radicalise the nation”, his readiness to implore violence utter lunacy, “barricades and bombs, why not?” The…

Despites the German’s best efforts to convert the Aboriginals, Governor Gipps decided to close the German Station in 1843. This was due to a report in 1842 by Handt, who was the Society’s agent at Moreton Bay. In Handt’s report, he noted that the German missionaries progress in converting the indigenous was “insufficiently encouraged” in the settlement (Gunson, 2013, p. 527). Handt’s comments on Zion Hill were derived from the fact that the settlement was still heavily reliant on the government’s funding. On top of this, the large amount of effort that the German were doing to break down the cultural barrier between the Aboriginals was perceived as sympathizing with the savages (Gunson, 2013, p. 527). Gipps agreed with Handt’s points this…

Many people have emigrated from Italy to America over the past few centuries. During the time period of 1880-1920, the largest number of Italians arrived in America as nearly four million Italian immigrants came to the states. Most came from either Sicily or southern Italy and were mostly comprised of lower income people. A majority of the immigrants were known as the "birds of passage". Life was often hard for Italians in America as they were forced into slums and the process of gaining citizenship was difficult. They faced difficult tests, both physically and mentally and many were sent back to Italy for failing. Americans looked down on Italians and they were stereotyped as violent people due to the number of gangs affiliated with the Italian culture. Al Capone was just one of many famous gangsters who reinforced this way of thinking. The Italians brought their heritage and traditions with them, helping to make the United States a cultural melting pot.…

If there would be someone impatient would ask for my words of wisdom, these are the words I would say: everything is possible if you believe, if you pray for it, if you work for it and if you really mean it, then why think negative and act too impatient? For all things are possible if just God really permits it. Faith without work is dead, the bible says. There’s simple Filipino story and everybody in this room might have heard it. The story of Juan Tamad. This guy craves for something and didn’t move to have it though the guava was within his reach. He just waited and waited for it to fall into his hands. Well, expecting something from nothing is impossible. I mean to wait is to work. How could you sit back and relax when you have the wish in your heart? There’s a saying, “do your best and let God do the rest.” Most Filipinos are just expecting to receive something from their dead faith. Dead faith means, having faith without work. Resulting, disappointments and sometimes unbelief. When a person hoped for something and was disappointed, it’s more likely that he would forget God’s reasons in giving him his disappointment. If the thing you hope for is really for you, it will come at the right time. You just have to wait. If it didn’t, it wasn’t for you. God has his reasons for doing so and we knew that it’s always for the…
