Article 231 in Source A states that Germany was the sole reason for causing the war and therefore they should pay for any damage caused by the war. Source B shows what the Germans thought about Article 231 and how they did not agree with it as they alone were not guilty of having caused the war. Although Germany was involved in the war, they did not believe that they started the war. Ultimately, the war started after a Serbian killed the Austria-Hungary heir to the throne and Austria-Hungary fought back.
