This is the album's first track and it discusses killing Jay-Z's ego. This track was written by Shawn Carter known as Jay-Z, Producer No I.D., Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson. No I.D. was also a producer in this single. This single samples Alan Parsons Project's song "Don't Let It Show". In this track, Jay-Z discusses important events that have affected his life and were highly publicized. The first occurrence was the shooting of his crack addicted brother when he was twelve years old. Although, Jay Z was never prosecuted for this event, he never forgets it. In addition, he rhymes about growing up in the Marcy projects in Brooklyn without a father. His father abandons him and the rest of the family when Jay Z was young. He mentions how for a long time he had a built an "armor" to protect him against getting emotionally hurt. However, now as a father, he has to show his daughter that he loves her and is her super hero. Additionally, he rhymes about how before being a successful rapper he sold drugs to survive and the guilt he feels for doing so. Jay-Z briefly mentions rapper Kanye West and the rant Kanye did at his 2016 Sacramento Tour Stop. The lyrical content in this track is emotionally raw with a low tempo sound.…

“Between Me and You” a book created by Ta-Nehisi Coates describes how tough it is being an African American man in America. The book which I read a couple of months ago showed how hard it is not to be targeted and judged in society if a person is of color. Coates mentioned how the rise of police brutality scares him on a daily basis for his African American son who is able to see these attacks on the black community through different outlets. Due to the use of social media, cellphones, video cameras and more we are able to see the destruction of minority communities. Though, the use of excessive force and police brutality happened years ago, now we are able to see blatant racism right before our eyes. The killings of Corey Jones, Tamir Rice,…

People with borderline personality disorder have been the inspiration for fictional characters in movies such as Fatal Attraction, Misery, Looking for Mr. Goodbar, and Single White Female (Sansone & Levitt, 2005). There is an interesting combination of characteristics, such as mood instability, intense fear of abandonment, self-damaging impulsivity, and intense unstable relationships that make for interesting dramatic characters. People suffering with this illness in real life have to face many difficulties due to this illness. They are avoided by others, even kept distant from their clinicians, and blamed for their own illness when others see it as an attitude or character flaw. They suffer through self-injury and…

When it comes to colors, the opening scenes are dominated by grays – parking lot, kitchen appliances, the staff’s uniforms – which then transition to warmer tones and dim lighting once Kenny gets home. These grays at Kenny’s workplace are quite typical when it comes to colors associated with a place of work – a place that is dull and somber. Also, the tasks that the characters have to perform all take place over the course of one day. Towards the very end of the episode, Kenny is shown walking along the road, all bloody and barely holding on, and it’s finally nighttime. This transition from day to night, or from light to darkness, metaphorically represents the transition from hopefulness to complete lack of hope as we see other characters receiving a troll face via SMS and realizing that they have been played.…
