Stating from a concerned community member and an investor’s point of view, I would not in any instance, propose to bring a Walmart at Torbram and Sandalwood. To begin with, the first and foremost reason behind my refusal is the reason that Walmart invades various rights that an employee has. Discriminating employees on the basis of their gender or sex is one the most common issues that is spreading around the chain of stores. In addition, profiling an employee clearly portrays the invasion of privacy rights that every human being dignifies. Moreover, being one of the biggest firms in the world, wherever they set up their store, they affect other small businesses running parallel. For example, various small-scale companies in America that had small retail stores had to suffer huge losses because of Walmart, as they barged in from nowhere and took all their business. In other words, Walmart can be considered a monopoly. This picture of their store is set in peoples mind and that keeps on boosting their profits. Instead, various individuals do not know the shocking truth that lies under the Walmart society. To continue further, the other major reason behind the refusal is the 1.4% decline in the store sales. Even though the number seems small, but for a big firm as this one there should be no decline in anything. Therefore, discrimination among the employees due to their sex, skin colour, or age could be one of the decisive reasons behind the declination of sales.
