Extract of Ginkgo biloba has been used for medical purposes for many years but little research is available showing high effectiveness in reducing receive loudness of tinnitus with some studies showing placebo effect in management of tinnitus. Determining whether Ginkgo biloba is effective in treating tinnitus is hindered by the lack of clinical evidence. None the less, many people with tinnitus are using variety of Ginkgo biloba products on the basis of limited evidence. Subjective tinnitus refers to a sound perceived only by the patient whereas, objective tinnitus can be heard both by the patient and the examiner (Henry, 2005).
