There are some families in the world run by women(mother) but most of them may be either single parent or they might have adopted children. I belong to a developing nation(Nepal) and in my country, I have seen most of the families are run by the men, I have barely seen families run by the women. In earlier times it was normal for the woman to stay at home and care for the home and the children but now that have changed. Women these days are working just like the man. However in some cultures it is still tradition that the woman stay home and take care of the house. Those particular cultures think it is just not right for women to be independent or provide for their own family. In some cultures people are still against women voting or having the same rights as men. But in the culture I live in, men and women share equal rights which includes, but is not limited to the right to vote. “The measurement of gender role identity typically focuses upon personality traits (e.g., agentic versus communal), with individuals indicating on a paper-and-pencil survey the degree to which each trait provides a true description of themselves (Lenton,…

A mother’s words are the ones that ring loudest in a child’s ear, are passed down from generation to generation, and the one’s that hold a special place in a child’s memory and heart forever. Expectations and guidelines are set at a young age. Morals and values are learned throughout the years, and life lessons are taught through the wisdom passed down from a mother to a daughter. Every mother has a wish for their daughter to be the best they can be. But at what point does instruction and wisdom become simply words that have been said one too many times? The short story “Girl,” written by Jamaica Kincaid is presented to the reader as a list of instructions from a mother to a daughter on how to live life to the fullest, while still being a lady. The mother seems to be almost obsessive about her daughter’s future social status and is making sure her daughter knows, even at a young age, just what she is not supposed to become. Kincaid uses repetition and metaphor in order to convey the message that it is important for a woman to respect herself and keep promiscuity to a minimum.…

This conflict is caused due to how history and tradition has presented women as week elites and has being normalized in the society. For example, back in world war 2 men went to war, because they believed men were stronger while women where expected to stay at home to take care of the children and do home chores. Why can’t men stay at home and take care of the children? I believe men and women are human beings and anyone in the society can do home chores, no one should be downgraded and power should be balanced to serve equal rights in the…
