INTRODUCTION
Grand Kerala Shopping Festival, often abbreviated as GKSF is an annual shopping event in Kerala. The festival is conducted by Tourism Department in co-ordination with the Industries and Commerce Department, Finance Department and Local Self-Government Department. Through this shopping festival, the Kerala government aims to transform the State into a hub for international shopping experience and thereby launch “Shopping Tourism” in the State. Shopping festivals are being conducted in many cities in the world. As compared to other Shopping festivals G.K.S.F. converts the entire State of Kerala into a giant shopping mall incorporating the big, medium and small scale traders. Participation of manufacturers and traders of consumer durables has been increasing year after year since its launching in 2007. In each season revenue from GKSF to Government is increasing. GKSF dealers can increase their own brand image either by participating in GKSF or by sponsoring traders can build up their reputation in the highly competitive environment. South Indian Bank, Federal Bank, Malabar Gold etc have utilized this chance effectively. Road-shows conducted at the national and international levels in association with GKSF helps to create a reputation for those firms. During the period of Grand Kerala Shopping Festival, shops and stores registered under G.K.S.F. offer wide range of discounts and attractive prizes etc. to its customers. Along with the guaranteed shopping experience, customers are provided with gift coupons for a fixed worth of purchase entering them into weekly and mega lucky draws.
