Goal and Long Term Goals
SHORT TERM AND LONG TERM GOALS

Setting personal goals in my life are important to me because I want to strive for personal
Excellence. I hope that as long as I live I will strive to excel and learn. Achievement of a short term goal leads to a long term goal and it never ends unless I will it to end. Since I’m passionate about learning and setting goals I believe I will continue to learn and achieve new goals. One goal I am working on now is learning how to write an excellent paper, in proper APA format.

In Addition, I’m working on writing short term goals and long term goals. The first short term goal that I will achieve is completing one class at a time which is linked to a professional goal in Nursing. The Long term goal is that I will complete all my classes and achieve a BSN between one and a half to two years depending on what the official transcripts say when they all come in. Another long term goal after I achieve my BSN will be to become a certified Psychiatric RN. It should come fairly easy for me to obtain the psychiatric RN Certification because I was working as a Psychiatric RN (just not certified) for ten years at Brotman Medical Center from the years 1990 to 2000. I then will study to be a clinical nurse specialist in Psychiatric Nursing or possibly become a nurse manager or nurse supervisor in Psychiatric Nursing. I could supervise Associate RN’s, LVN’s Psychiatric Technicians and CNA’s

Right now I’m not working as an RN because I’m devoting myself full time in the BSN Program at the University of Phoenix.

Another Short term goal of mine is working my exercise program which consists
Of riding my exercise bike, taking walks and a few strengthening exercises to both legs. I hope to build up to one hour on the exercise bike and walking one hour a day, if time permits. I can’t forget the importance of time management.

I will drink at least eight glasses of water a day and lose two pounds of fat per week. I will achieve a

support required for successful completion, and my plan for a successful outcome in becoming a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Discussion Nursing is a career that continues to demonstrate long-term demand. It can improve job security and provide long-term security. In some Oregon hospitals (I reside in the state of Oregon), the minimal educational requirements for Registered Nurses will soon be the Baccalaureate degree. “Accordingly, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing recognizes the Bachelor of Science degree in nursing as the minimal educational requirement for professional nursing practice” (Blais & Hayes, 2011, p. 4). Nurses returning to school learn more about the profession they’ve chosen. Delightfully, this may result in a change of perspectives of their previously conceived ideas of the meaning of nursing, the world around them, and themselves. Education enhances self-confidence and one’s sense of purpose. Being able to say, “I did it!” provides a great sense of accomplishment. In addition, returning to school helps one to improve computer skills, writing ability, and organizational skills. “Although RNs felt they returned to school as skilled, knowledgeable and professional practitioners, they reported growing beyond their expectations in areas of knowledge and professionalism, which they felt led the to become more effective change agents and patient…

My short-term goals consist of ways of improving myself as a student by focusing on my current and future classes. To be a better student, I must have a strategy to grasp the concepts that my classes cover. Such strategies includes managing my time well, being organized, and making sure I take care of my mental health. As a nursing major, I feel that it is my obligation to educate myself about scientific information involving the human health. In the future, I wish to use my education to inspire others, help people recover from injuries, and use it to help better the human condition.…

Completing my bachelor’s degree in Nursing has been a personal goal of mine since I graduated with my associate’s degree in nursing. Having my BSN degree is essential for my career and personal development. Initially after graduating with my ASN, I enrolled in a BSN program and started my first class, when life happened. I was a single mother raising my 5 year old daughter, working the night shifts at Miami Children’s Hospital. I was dating my now husband and became pregnant with my second child. I ended up having to quit my job as a pediatric nurse which was my goal, to be a pediatric nurse, get my BSN and climb the ladder there. After the birth of my daughter my personal goals changed, and my academic and career goals were put on hold. My daughters are now almost 13 and 6, so I think now in this stage of my life, I am pleased to go for my academic and career goals.…

Registered Nurse is the career I plan on pursuing, because it dealing with helping people. I love helping people. My plan is to work in a clinic. Hospital work is less predictable and more stressful than clinic work, says Beth Anne Schwamberger, a former RN who has worked in both hospital and clinic settings. In order for me to be a RN nurse I must first have these certifications: graduate, or provide verification of completion and eligibility for graduation, from a state-approved nursing program, pass the NCLEX® examination, and self-report any and all criminal convictions, chemical dependencies, and functional ability deficits. RN nurses keep records, administer medication, consult with other healthcare providers, monitor patients and educate…
