The Godfather
Mario Puzo Biography! Mario Puzo was born in New York City, on October 15th, 1920. He was a famous Italian author and screenwriter, who wrote a number of popular novels about The Mafia. Throughout Puzo’s career/lifetime, he is best known and recognized for his publishing of the popular novel, The Godfather. Puzo was born into a poor family from Pietradefusi, Province of Avellino, Campania, Italy living in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York. He served in the army during World War 2, and studied writing at the New School for Social Research and at Columbia University during the late 1940s and early 1950s. He worked at a variety of jobs, and wrote serious but unsuccessful fiction until he became famous as the author of The Godfather. He was married to Erika Puzo and had 5 children. Mario Puzo passed away due to heart failure on Friday, July 2, 1999 at his home on Manor Lane in West Bay Shore, Long Island, New York. Also, Mario
Puzo admitted that he never associated with or knew an authentic mobster, and he drew upon his knowledge of the area in which he grew up, research, and his imagination to write The Godfather

The Godfather
Plot Summary!!! The Godfather, by Mario Puzo, first takes place during a backyard wedding reception for Don
Vito Corleone’s daughter, Connie. Don Corleone is an Italian Mafia boss known as the Godfather.
During the wedding, the Don is conducting business in his office. Alongside him are his sons Santino
“Sonny” Corleone, Michael “Mikey” Corleone and his adopted son and family lawyer, Tom Hagen.
While his daughter’s wedding is taking place, many people come to Vito’s office to make requests before Connie is married. As soon as all the requests were fulfilled, Don Vito set the stage and had a ceremonial dance with his daughter. After the wedding, Don met up with Italian
