gost story
As a professor of seven years, I have heard many-a-tale, and been a fierce sceptic of such stories. However, when one experiences such things first-hand, he can truly appreciate the pain one goes through to get others to believe them. So I ask you to look upon this with an open mind, unclouded by others who will undoubtedly dismiss my story.

I find it hard myself to believe how things have come full-circle. However, I can respect and appreciate an individual's scepticism towards my tale.

T'was two days after summer solstice, June 23 I believe, when these curious occurrences started. I was returning to my office, coming back from an employee conference, when I heard footsteps behind me, in the corridor. The place was all but empty and this surprised me a little, so I turned around slowly to look. At that very same moment, the footsteps stopped, and nobody was anywhere to be seen. I continued walking, listening carefully and after a few seconds, the footsteps predictably restarted. However in this instance, the steps sounded almost with purpose, as if they were deliberately stomped to make as much noise as possible. Worried, I turned and retraced my steps backwards, treading carefully, and breathing as quietly as humanly possible when one secretly wants to heavily pant for breath. The horrific images of the arson attack two years ago, and the now infamous murder in the grounds of the building little over 9 months ago were fresh in my mind. I reached the beginning of the corridor, a spot well known for not having seen natural light for years. Surrounded by the somewhat claustrophobic darkness, I slowly turned my head left, shaking.

'You're not worried are you Edward?' came the voice, with intermittent fits of laughter in between. I...

This experience has been one of the most outlandish and eerie that one could of imagined. Most things in life can be explained rationally and with little thought to the reason or logic behind them, however what I have experienced is quite the conflicting to what I would usually be inclined to think. There must be some type of phenomenon that makes one feel as though one has left the natural world. These occurrences leave no room for logic, rationalization or justification.…

Music has always been a very important part of my life. As a child, I was mesmerized by Disney’s Fantasia 2000 and watched the Disney sing-a-longs over and over. I began playing piano at a young age, and in middle school added more instruments to my list, such as flute, saxophone, and ukulele. I have had many opportunities to perform both solos and ensemble performances, but none of them have impacted me as much as my interactions with an elderly man named Mr. Roland Goff, or as we called him in my church, Brother Goff. When I was in 5th grade, I played a piano song in church entitled A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief. A couple years later, Brother Goff’s wife passed away and my family started spending more time with him. He told me he remembered the song I played in 5th grade and how much he loved it. I had many other opportunities to play in church as well, and he remembered and enjoyed each of them. It was then that I started…

As I turned back to look at the position of the sun, so I could see how long until nightfall, I saw someone enter the building. I darted back inside and tried to follow the quiet sound of breathing. There was something else though, much louder. Was it spray paint? Had I found a graffiti artist? My breaths became short and choppy, This is a criminal! I thought. I heard footsteps walking down the stairs opposite me. Poking my head in the room I thought too hear him in, I saw an odd symbol. It resembled a compass, with coordinates around the outside. I quickly pulled out my phone and Googled them. Oddly they were in my town, Chicago. Punching them into my phone’s GPS, I ran as fast as I could to the exact location of them. It was about ten blocks away from the factory, so a very long…

On a cold, brisk snowy night in New York City little did I know I was about to make an encounter with someone I'd never forget. I was waiting for a friend in McDonald's so she could get her food and stay inside for warmth, when I realized someone not too far behind me was talking. Startled, I turned around I saw a homeless man wrapped in torn up blankets, shaggy, undone brown hair and trying to keep warm like the rest of us. My first instinct was to stay clear until a woman had drooped her purse and money rolled around his feet, as he bent down to retrieve the money to all our disbelief he handed her the money and told her something extraordinary. As he handed the woman back her money with shaky hands, he looked down and exclaimed how,"Money…

In my opinion if someone that you really trust tells you something than I would believe them but you also have to believe in miracles for yourself. You cannot just believe in what they say, you have to come up with your own opinions. Hume talks about how we confide in the trustworthy person because we are comfortable with them. We want to believe them so we tell ourselves that they are being honest with us. Hume uses an Indian prince as an example, he talks about how the water freezes in the cold. You know it is going to happen so you will trust someone when they say the water has frozen. The only problem is when you get them in a different climate, then they do not know what happens so they cannot trust just anyone.…

I arrived outside my home at five in the afternoon. The winter air felt calm for once, this Saturday. However, when I walked inside I had an eerie feeling. There was strangely no noise in the house, except the water faucet dripping. Immediately, I shut the water off. That’s when in the utter silence I heard a small scratching…

He took his own sweet time in telling me with tantalizingly tortuous ambiguity that he did not indeed believe this rumor as many as my faithless friends had. After what felt to my young heart as an unbearably protracted amount of time, he finally got to the juicy part of his tale. Somehow, he managed to get out, between his many and repeated, “I don’t actually believe this”, or “This is just what I heard”, that some unknown entity had accused me of not just going into the boy’s…

Tired, with a headache, and not in capacity to maintain my eyes open, I remembered next day was Halloween, which was the last thing I remembered before falling sleep. I woke up and saw the watch, it was three o’clock a.m. I listened to a weird sound that came from my closet; it was soft, but I could hear it like a rat scratching the walls. Intrigued about what was happening, I woke up and walked towards the closet. The sound gave me the chills.…
