Good Morning, staff, teachers and fellow grade 9s. I am here today as Emily, the candidate running for Grade 9 Representative. But most times I am just Emily the student who is just another classmate, friend or stranger. We have arrived at a time where we need to find a person to represent the Grade 9 students of Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School. This could be a time of change. This could be a time of popularity. But the constant is that what every person we choose, will be the person who will speak on behalf of all of us.

Orientation day. That day we knew no-one but our friends. Feeling nervous, excited at the same time. Though all you wanted to do was going home to rest and spending the summer days away. For some reason, you force yourself to change your ways. Or the times in Trudeaumania where we … Since change is what creates opportunities for something great. Change is scary. Believe me I know the feeling. But if I stood here today refusing to talk would you say that I was a good leader if I did not believe I could try.
The quote “Do what is right, not what is easy” by a person who knows no boundaries. As students of Pierre Elliot Trudeau, we strive to work hard everyday. Because we are students of Pierre Elliot Trudeau, we choose to promote equity. Doing the extra today for what is beneficial for us tomorrow. Today is also the day where we choose a leader that will create more leaders, not followers.
In conclusion, choosing a leader to represent a voice of over 200 people is not easy. But choosing one that will lead change and equity is harder. Nonetheless, once the choice is made, the truths will unravel. From the memories and the actions of us candidates that we’ve encounter together stands here today. For we are trailblazers.
