Preparing for Academic Success at the Graduate Level Paper
Graduate writing takes on a form all on its own. The words a writer chooses at this level can reach a large amount of people with the information in the paper. The writer can sway his or her readers to see his or her opinion on a topic. Writing a paper at the graduate level differs from other writing styles by the quality assessed to the paper. A writer can use his or her strengths and weaknesses to help achieve these academic requirements. Strengths and weaknesses differ between writers. What makes a great writer depends on the knowledge and skill the person has. A great writer is made, not born. A writer must be able to use his or her time appropriately. What makes a great writer

Poor time management can be related to procrastination, as well as problems with self-control. Skills involved in managing time include planning for the future, setting goals, prioritizing tasks, and monitoring where the time actually goes (Psychology Today, 2013).
Time management is important to a writer. Without time management a paper will be lacking substance. Dunn (2011) states organization is essential for writing projects; planning is important to allotting time to complete a project. By a writer planning for specific activities he or she is better prepared. Having proper time management gives a writer the time to look and reflect on the material and the writing. Nothing good has been produced when it has been rushed. Not giving enough time for the project can lead to stress for the writer. Increased levels of stress will take the mind of the writer to another place. Instead of being focused on the material, the writer will be looking at the clock, counting down to the deadline. By working early on a project a writer can leave extra time to change something or add more information. It gives the writer time to review the paper and make sure nothing is missing. Family, work, and school are the leading levels of stress in people. A person must be able to balance the stress of everyday life. Not being able to find a balance will lead to negatives in a person’s life. A person will not try as hard at something because he or she is focused on what can go wrong. A person will begin to question themselves. Work, at any level, will suffer from being stressed out. Steve Maraboli said it best, “You must learn to let go. Release the stress.
