Should Graffiti Be Legalized/Considered An Art? Graffiti, is more than just the violation of urban landscape, it’s an expression of culture, politics, and reflects the time period; It should be legalized and considered an art, the graffiti we commonly know most about and see is the type that uses spray cans. That kind of graffiti became most known in the late 1960s and born on subway trains in New York.
Why the government should take into consideration for Graffiti to be legalized. People that illicitly vandalize a building would stop doing it illicitly. The city’s government would be saving more money. Graffiti.org says “Denver, CO and Milwaukee, WI, with similar populations-just over 550,000-each spend about $1 million annually,
this is per capita cost of about $1.80. In Houston, TX (population just over 2 million), the city earmarked $2.2 million for cleanup of existing graffiti in 2006.” Just fancy the idea of Milwaukee, WI using those $1 million dollars on something more for example on a bigger issue, for example education.
