Duration: September 31- October 25, 2013
Goals:
1. To relate weather instruments with the type of weathers and appreciate our different types of weather in Belize. 2. To create weather instruments using home materials. 3. To develop an understanding of our natural resources in Belize. 4. To better understand the weather conditions in Belize and the instruments that assist to determine those conditions. 5. Understand with the aid of visuals the different natural disasters in our country. 6. Understand the importance of the different weather instruments and their uses to daily identify the different weather conditions. 7. To demonstrate and appreciation of the country different seasons.
Rationale:
It is important for students to be acquainted with the different weather instruments and their functions in determining the weather conditions. Having such knowledge students will develop a positive attitude and appreciation of their community, through farming and planting of trees. In addition, they will see the worth and value our natural resources.

    Passage one is very distinctive to passage two because the author uses specific and short details to inform the reader about the Florida Okefenokee Swamp. HE starts of the passage with geographic features to give the reader some background of the swamp. For example the author describes the location of the swamp.     We use weather technology to track and measure storms. "Airplanes are regularly used for weather research and to gather data on hurricanes. From time to time, airplanes are sent out to observe storms over the Atlantic or Pacific that could affect the USA." Airplanes observe storms over the oceans and judge weather or not it can harm the people in cities and towns around it (William). But it would waste a huge amount of time for airplanes to travel across the world just to observe the weather in other foreign countries. So we use weather radars.
