In a Gravestone Made of Wheat by Will Weaver, a man is struggling to get the rights to bury his wife on his farm. The man and main character, Olaf, does anything in his power to do what he feels his right. Because of this and indirect characterizations throughout this story, Olaf appears to be a determined and thoughtful man.
In this story Olaf shows a lot of determination. He never gives up when things get rough, and takes the route that feels right. For example, in the introduction of the story, the sheriff tells Olaf it’s illegal for him to bury his wife, Inge, on the farm. Olaf felt in his heart that Inge wouldn’t want anywhere else to be buried except for that farm. So later in the story, Olaf still buried Inge on the farm, knowing what
