Grease Play Analysis

Title of the play I went to see on April 21, 2017 is Grease. The theatre I had saw it in was at C.A Theatre and the company was Tarrant County Southeast Campus. The playwright of the play was by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey and the director of Grease is Steven D. Morris. My pre-show experience the first thing I saw was a person’s head, which I believe it, was the composer, which was cool because of how he rather stays hidden. In addition, I like how they had the curtains down with the title in bold letters, which made it exciting.
The play was mainly about how groups of teenagers who are trying to find love, make and have friendships, and to find yourself. The primary themes of Grease were love, friendship, and teen rebellious. The story was
The first actor I chose was Danny because of how he was bipolar with everything, which means he had to have different transitions of facial expressions and mood swings and Aaron fit that good. When his feelings keep on switching from Sandy to Rizzo the day of the picnic and how his expression towards them were different which amazed me how he can switch the feelings like that. One bad thing I would have to say is when he sang “Summer Nights” he did not start good because his voice cracked towards the middle. In Danny’s voice he had a clamming tone towards everyone but when he was around Sandy he had a soft tone in his voice except at times when he get angry with her. At times when he wants to be right, someone teases him or prove someone wrong his voice would go high and have a mad tone. Danny stayed joyful and goofy around his friends but when Sandy said things to get him down he would be sad because that showed how much he cared for her which put a twist on how love can do to you. Aaron put many facial expressions onto Danny character that was a good thing so I know as an audience member. Know that he is enjoying himself and putting thought into the
The design is the play made the play the best part of the whole thing because of the color pop, which grab my attention. The set tied all of it together because of how the props and the scheme of the set was good and how it went with the overall scenes. The lights helped a lot because when the lights dim it showed that the scene was over and it was time to move the props and replace them with new ones. The lights would help when it was someone’s spotlight or when they are singing a song. The costumes help show what type of person that character is or their personality for example how Rizzo is outfit was mostly black and red which showed that she is a rebellious person and is badass. In addition, to watch out for Rizzo because of tight black leggings and her black and red top. The sound has also impact the transition of changing the set like for example the music would play when they were changing from the picnic scene but then the music starts to go low and that’s when you would know the a change of set is
