Gatsby Literature essay

Gatsby and Daisy’s relationship shines through all the bad things that are happening in that time. This can be seen as both accurate and inaccurate. The world that they live in is very unpleasant, dirty, immoral and materialistic. Both Daisy and Gatsby are wealthy and are not affected by the trouble of 1922, but are affected by immoral behaviour and materialism. The one thing about Gatsby and Daisy that shines above the rest, is the point of unconditional love, childish love, but also a love that is based upon materialistic beliefs.
In an optimistic view, Daisy and Gatsby’s love shines bright due to the fact that Gatsby loves Daisy, completely. Every time Gatsby is near Daisy or even when he hears her name, he has radiance about him, no words or actions are necessary to show how much he truly loves her. “He literally glowed; without a word or a gesture of exultation a new well-being radiated from him...” (86) When Gatsby is meeting Daisy for the first time after a few years, he is incredibly nervous, but even though he is incredibly scared and probably could leave at any time, he goes forward with it, because he knows that he needs her back.
Gatsby has one of the most incredible qualities, and that is to Love Unconditionally. In the dictionary it says that "Unconditional love is a term that means to love someone regardless of one's actions or beliefs." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unconditional_love) The unconditional love that Gatsby has for Daisy, grows their relationship to shine brighter. Gatsby would do absolutely anything for Daisy; he even takes the blame for something that he did not do. “Was she driving?”... “Yes, but of course I’ll say I was.” (137)
Gatsby and Daisy have a sort of ‘childish’ love. There love is that of two children holding hands for the first time, or someone having their first kiss. The way they react to each other is in a very playful manner. “His
